1. Tigers will play the Gophers next Tuesday at Williams Arena in a rematch of Final Four teams from last year. Currently, Minnesota is 7-1 on the season, with the only loss being to the University of Washington in Seattle when Superstar Janel McCarville was not in action. After missing the first two games, McCarville is exerting her influence on the club. She has dropped 40 pounds, never been more in shape, and is s true force down low. And she averages just shy of 5 assists per game. There is no better passer in the county at her position.

Compared to last season, Minnesota is extrememly deep at the post. Jamie Broback, has developed as a threat both inside and out. She's hitting 51% from the field and leading the team in scoring. Liz Podominck is another banger who goes off and on. When she's on, McCarville and she operate a fantastic high low option. She alternates being dominant down low to totally disappearing the next game.

The backcourt is solidly in the hands of Shannon Schonrock, a point guard with incredible range. The role of Lindsey Whalen is being flled by three players: Kelly Roysland likes to drive to the hole and does so to the tune of 8.5 points per game. April Calhoun handles the three point shooting and the assist making. Shannon Bolden is the teams top defender and takes on the opponents leading backcourt offensive threat.

This team knows how to win and they know how to make the plays when needed. LSU has the advantage in team speed but will need to find a way to deal with McCarville and the Gopher post players. This may be the first game where LSU doesn't have an advantage in the post; and Fowles is a big part of the offense. Seimone and the outside post players are going to have to help spread out the Minnesota Defense.

Expect a crowd to be on hand!! Minnesota loves the Gopher Women and it's cold outside so folks are going to be wanting to do something indoors.
  2. These 2 centers going head to head tonight should be fun to watch.
