1. This is my letter to ABC Sports sent today:

    Dear ABC Sports:

It is my personal opinion that your coverage of the Rose Bowl was an insult to the NCAA, Oklahoma Fans, LSU Fans and a travesty to the principle of Professional Journalism.

I understand if you disagree in who you feel might have been the best teams in college football this year. The system leaves some doubt in the way it happenned this year. There are three teams that deserved to be there. That is very simple to understand. In these cases the BCS was created to try and sort it out the best way without having sectional bias and using human feelings instead of cold hard facts. Computers look at these things impartialy. Including the human polls it still determined the 2 best teams in college football.

This must have been opposite of what ABC determined to be in their best interest. So instead of acknowledging that maybe it is an imperfect system and if we had a playoff on the field it would be the best way you decided to appoint your own National Champion disregarding the NCAA, BCS and the unfair treatment of both the OU and LSU teams.

These teams have worked just as hard and they both deserve the respect and dignity of what they have accomplished this year.

Speaking for myself only I can promise you that my disgust is genuine. My anger at your network is real and I will no longer buy your product. I only hope that enough of my fellow countrymen agree with my view and we can successfully hurt your profits to the point of you either changing and formally apologizing . Or facing the bottom line hit on your profits to put you out of business.

I don’t think you realize the impact of your bias has had on the sportsfans of both of these teams. It was a slap in the face and the only way to make you feel the error of your ways is to hit you where it hurts.

One thing about this great country is the freedom of speech and the opportunity to pursue happiness. With that comes a responsibility that you seem to have forgotten. Fairness and objectivity are 2 things very important in your business.

In conclusion I will not be watching your network in the future. Whenever the time permits I will be picketing your local station in protest of your bias.

Maybe you regard this as another crazy temporary upset fan. You will have underestimated my level of determination. I will exercise my rights as a living breathing consumer in this country.

    Sincerely

    Alan Underwood
    LSU FAN
    AMERICAN

I invite each one of you to exercise your consumer activities against ABC as well.

  2. ABC is owned by Disney.... " I'm not going to Disney World"
  3. Now this is a great letter. Awesome job CalcoTiger!
  4. You may want to throw something in there about petitioning their sponsors and advertisers, too. This hits them right where it hurts....squarely in the wallet.
  5. My thoughts sent to ABC:

Your BCS coverage has been biased, ignorant, dishonorable, inflammatory and very offensive to the great sport of college football. What a disgusting display your company put on during and following the rose bowl. You like controversy and thrive in it. I am one man and I am sure I will never affect your bottom line, but I sure as hell will never support any product your sponsors endorse. In fact, this has prompted me to invest in Tivo, for the sole purpose of never allowing myself to be swayed by any commercial from your network. It is ashamed ABC has the rights to the BCS. I guess I should not have expected any better from the network who allows Peter Jennings to spout anti-American views night after night.
    A disgusted viewer,

  6. Great letters guys. Very articulate and straight to the point. Maybe someone can organize a bunch of the LSU and OU tailgaters to picket our local ABC affiliate (channel 26) on Saturday afternoon and night. We could set up a tailgate party right in front of the station on Jeff Davis. There will be plenty of people all over the CBD to recruite from. I'm sure Channel 26 would pick up the story and it would probably get some national air time. Then the rest of the nation can echo in their displeasure with these ABC boobs.
