Every once in awhile, you hear about how the NIT tournament used to be bigger and more glamorous than the NCAA. When did the NCAA become top dog and was it a gradual or instant thing?

Since the NCAA tourney was more important, has a team ever beat two eventual #1 seeds during the regular season but not made the big dance? Texas A&M has a legitimate shot at a #1 if they win the Big 12 tourney (especially if they beat the horns & then Kansas again) and Florida has a shot at a #1. Hopefully the Tigers will win the next 3 games and not have to worry about it but I was just curious.

Great win by the Tigers tonight. I've watched about 7 games on Yahoo this year and I think my record is 1-6 now. I'm glad the team had more faith than me towards the end of the game. When Lofton hit that long 3 or even after his tip-in I was trying to think of something positive. The only thing that came to mind was at least I'm not listening to Hawthorne right now.

Whenever they started allowing more than 1 team from a conference to go to the NCAA tourney is when it became better. What a dumb rule to begin with.
