ND, hte Big East and the Bibg 12 have formed a partnership that assure a representative in both the Gator Bowl and the Sun Bowl for the next four years. Sounds like ND is getting a bit desperate.

Desparate is the I-Bowl; Houston's bowl will replace it as the SEC-Big XII match up. I can see the folks running the Weedwacker thinking an SEC-Sun or WAC game would be a great draw in hopes of a directional/technical Louisiana or Troy hooking up with a team from the west.

For the sake of LA and Shreveport, I hope the Indy keeps it's matchup. I think the Houston Bowl will eventually get a better matchup than the one the Indy gets, I just hope it doesn't push the Iny too far down the list. As a matter of fact, I could see the Indy Houston Bowl replacing the Cotton unless the Cotton plays in a new Cowboys Stadium and does more to entice people to Dallas in the winter, Houston has a much better climate for a January game.

And Houston can close the roof. Dallas at 8 AM on January 1 isn't all that much fun for tailgating!

Gosh fans these days are babies! hahah just kidding...

Anyway, I really enjoyed the Independence Bowl.. Sad to see it drop a bit like it has.

While I do enjoy it, I also hope that LSU never plays in that bowl again! :) hahah b/c I got bigger things in mind! :crystal:

    100% yes!

Notre Dame, 1985, 29 degrees at kickoff and dropping. The place where this History BA/MA learned that snow after melting, does not evaporate in sub-32 temps and becomes ice; furthermore hunting boots from the south will not protect from having feet on said ice after 15 minutes. I am still cold from that event, possiblty the most boring LSU win (non-D1AA or tulane division) ever.

The I-Bowl has renewed its contract with both the SEC & Big XII through at least the '08 season. The problem that is going to arise is having enough bowl eligible SEC teams to fill out of their bowl tie-ins(especially if USC gets put on any significant probation).

Who would want the #2 Big East team over the #2 Big XII team?

The I-bowl would be an improvement over the New Orleans Bowl for the Sun Belt... if they get that deal, look for North Texas to make an annual visit.

Not so fast my friend... The New Orleans Bowl (like the Houston Bowl) is still young and waiting for a sponsor. As these mid-major teams have started to gain some notoriety over the past few seasons, these bowls have attracted more interest. Ultimately, teams would rather travel to N.O. or Houston for the bowl atmosphere than they would to Shreveport (Sorry, North LA, but it's true.)

The I-Bowl in Shreveport has one advantage over Houston and New Olreans, the cost of putting on the game is Significantly lower (lower hotel room costs, lower airfare costs, etc.) This means that they are better able to make a bigger payout to the teams. That will only be true as long as N.O. and Houston don't have major sponsors.

The pecking order of the bowls is always in flux, and as they say, "the future is uncertain..."
