Nobody would have had to drag me to see Merle. If you don't love it leave it, let this song I'm a singin' be a warnin'

This one is for @shane0911 the transplanted coonass in Okieland

I wonder if the term haggard was named after him.

My 14-year-old self most definitely had to be dragged. As a 45-year-old, I can see that his music was good, but tell that to a high school freshman girl...

Merle died on his 79th birthday. I've never been a big country music fan but his music, like the songs of fellow outlaws Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings transcended the genre of country and had a widespread following of all kinds of tastes.

Anybody who has had one or two or 4o too many can identify with this

Idiot rear ends him in an h2 and then kills him and an attempt on his woman as well shooting her twice.

Maybe a celebrity death (and not just any celebrity, but a Super Bowl Saint) will finally wake up some of the deniers who lead New Orleans to just what a madhouse that place has become.

Sure, NOLA is a dangerous city in places but the same thing could have just as easily happened in NewYork, Chicago, LA, or even Baton Rouge. In fact it does happen somewhere every day. Usually the victims are not famous. A crazy mofo with road rage. Happened just a few blocks from St. Charles Ave.
