1. All that means is that Tubby will have to make another trip to Nigeria or Ethiopia or wherever he recruits those guys (see the Dale Brown recruiting guide), and step it up a notch. Maybe Ogubugu or Obumanu or Abrogomishu, or whoever has a younger brother. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
  2. How foolish can you get? If LSU fires a coach with a winning record in only two years, what top coach would ever be interested in coming here to an automatic hot seat? Did you see what happened to Bama after Bryant? Did you see what happened to Nebraska after they fired a coach who just finished 9-2? Even Houston Nutt turned them down, and Nebraska is in the pits today.

LSU has its three toughest games on the road next year and loses 21 seniors that were among the best that have played here. The finest coach in the world would have a tough time next year. However in odd years the Tigers have the tough games at home. Even Nick only managed 8-win seasons in even years.

I expect a drop-off and 8-3 will be a good year. But 2007 looks to be rosy. Miles will definitely get that 2007 year because Skip Bertman is not a fool.
  3. .

I don't know that the depth at the OL position is all that great in this year's recruiting class....which makes it that more of a significant position to get commitments from. So, I'll agree with you about a concern for OL for next year. However, none of the OL signed this year--reguardless of ranking, would start for us next season, so the number of (or lack thereof) OL this class won't be as significant as what we signed or didn't sign, last year and the year before.

While the OL is a BIG concern for next season, I also worry about our LB situation. At least on the OL, we have some players with game experience--guys like Herman Johnson, Brian Johnson, Brett Helms and Max Holmes....and some with experience like Dynakowski, but at LB, next to Highsmith, Luke Sanders is really the only other LB to have any significant game experience.

Having Kyle WIlliams and Claude Wroten up front was a big advantage for us considering Cam Vaughn isn't a true MLB but a great OLB playing in the middle. With Dorsey moving up to starting duty, and Stewart another likely possibility, we have some talent--but will it be enough to overcome the loss in the middle of the defense created by losing Vaughn, Williams and Wroten???
  4. Yep. Reguardless of if you like, or dislike Miles, you start firing coaches so quickly and no one will want to come here....and I don't care how great the fascilities are, etc.
  5. If Russell continues to get better, we can win the West easily next year.
  6. There are other teams with good players... you knew that right? I mean Auburn is still in the West. Whether we win the West or not, it will not be easy, regardless of who are coach would be.
  7. Ground-breaking journalism.
  8. I'm expecting 8-3 or 9-2 for next season. (I had 9-2 or 10-1 set as an expectation for this season, which I dropped to 8-3 or 9-2 after the hurricanes.)

If it weren't for most of our tough games being away, I would like our chances a lot more. We lose a lot of very good seniors, but I'm optimistic about the development of their replacements. I think we'll be a pretty good team next season, but playing tough opponents on the road might mean an extra loss or two that maybe wouldn't have happened at home.

Arizona, Arkansas, Florida & Auburn all worry me. I think we could go 3-1 out of them though.
  9. I'm glad somebody started this thread, I was thinking about it myself.

I think Red is close to the mark, 8-3 most probable, maybe 9-2 with a little upside surprise.

Some young guys will have to step up on the OL, but we've been recruiting well there. That should happen. Alley will be back, hopefully as good as ever. I'm stretching and hoping JV rounds into form, or the redshirts will have to step up. I think it is possible to see improvement in the running game next year. JR will have another year of maturity and that will help him. I think we can see improvement in his decision making if the OL keeps the rush off him. The receiver corp should be good, hopefully with maturity there will be fewer drops.

On D, Williams, Wrotten, Oliver will be hard to replace. Dorsey is our hope, and maybe Ricky Jean Francois. Highsmith seems very good at LB, hopefully Luke Sanders is ready to step in.

Will Jimbo stay or go? If he goes, who will we get? Biggest offseason intrigue. I have liked Pelini after game 2. I like it more when he sends the blitz, we seem to be pretty good at it.

I'll watch with interest over the offseason, watch for signing day, listen attentively during spring training and summer camp, and eagerly await the start of next season.

Season greetings to all Tiger Fans!

  10. Ha, and your well developed argument was much better... :yelwink2:
