Day Three At The Combine:

LSU senior defensive lineman MARCUS SPEARS was 6040, 307 pounds, but will not workout until a second Pro Day on March 31st at LSU, which has been added to the schedule. Dr. Bankston was the doctor who performed the arthroscopic procedure on his right knee two weeks ago, but he got it examined here at the Combine with no flags being raised. Has a total of 16 interviews setup for the next two nights, including Denver.

Quick hits from Indy: Day 4

Some snippets

Group 6 consisted of quarterbacks, which included Cal's Aaron Rodgers and Purdue's Kyle Orton. There were 13 of them, and 12 of them ran. The only one that didn't run was Arizona State's Andrew Walter, who was hurt. Also in that group was Matt Jones, a quarterback from Arkansas who is also trying out as a wide receiver. The consensus from our fivesome was that he ran probably the fastest time of any quarterback we've ever seen at the combine.

So what did he do? Jones ran a 4.41, a 4.44, a 4.47 and a 4.50. In case you were wondering, if 4.50 is your slowest time in the 40, you know you're doing something right.

The fastest guy was probably Kansas State's Darren Sproles, who ran a 4.38 and a 4.40. Carnell Williams was right on his tail with a 4.40 and a 4.43. Williams is a super looking player -- he caught the ball well, ran smoothly and looked good.

But the guy who got us talking was someone who was 252 pounds and ran a 4.59! That would be Brandon Jacobs, who is from Southern Illinois but started at Auburn (so make it three impressive running backs from Auburn).

Harvard quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick took his Wonderlic exam, and got every single question right. That ties him with Pat McInally as the only two people who achieved a perfect score on the test. However, Fitzpatrick finished his exam in nine minutes! That has got to be a record.

No way does Benson get under a 4.32. The Niners need their heads examined if they take an RB though.

yep...i wanted to freaking puke when i heard him say that sh!t on ESPN. who in the hell does this punk think he is? sounds like just another USC piece of crap...just like keyshawn. the combine is to see how well you stack up against other prospective players...not by your damn self. it would be only fitting if the giants drafted him...he'd be recieving from a QB that put himself above the rest of the draft class last year, just like he did. maybe he and eli could have their own separate locker rooms. i wish mike williams all the failure in the world.

Come on, you guys act like the top talent doesn't skip the Combine EVERY YEAR.

Having them skip the combine is simply a non-issue, IMO. I prefer to see guys there, but don't particularly care if the skip it either.
