Nick's not happy, and when Nick's not happy, nobody's happy. :cuss: I know there was a lot of discussion on the TAF plan with many supporters and detractors. What do you detractors out there have to say about Nick's most recent comments as reported in the Advocate? I think he makes a good point that the future begins now, not in 10 yrs. Was it a veiled threat to go elsewhere if promises aren't kept? This will be very interesting.

    It was...

a strategic move by him and the AD's office. It seemed to come out of nowhere, which tells me it was something he wanted, and probably others wanted, to see go down at a press conference. My question is, why the hell did it take us this long to get people in the AD's office to see into the future. Skip is a real believer in visualizing how you want things and making it come true, apparently Joe Dean wasn't that kinda guy and now we are stuck having to replace/renovate every major facility at the same time.

    Ever heard the saying -

"Don't tax you, don't tax me, tax that man behind the tree"?

That's exactly the mentality that got us to this point. I hope like hell someone figures out what to do about it. I like 8-5 in an off year, not in a successful one.

Has anyone not figured out that LSU's success has coincided with the growth of the TAF? Can anyone make a decent case of why not to do this, other than the typical red herring - TAF is going to turn Tiger Stadium into a country club for the rich? That is such bullshiite!!!!!

Give TAF control of 65% of the seats. Let the people who have seats now have the first crack at stepping up. If they do not want to pay $250 for a sideline seat, give them an opportunity to sit somewhere else in the stadium for less money. But give the people willing to support LSU the opportunity to see the game from the best seats.

We damn well better be paying attention to this.

    I just don't get it......

why some people don't understand that major college athletics is just like the Cold War Arms race. I have always thought it wise to look at what the winners are doing, and unless you can improve upon it, then copy what they do. It seems to me that this issue came up at the worst possible time, with elections just around the corner and my bet is that in the first session after these fall elections that it'll get done. My problem with that is the lack of backbone of our elected officials and in my opinion that's what causes this state to lag behind in so many things. I really hope that TAF is allowed to do the job becuase of the time element involved. If the state does it, it will drag on for yrs. and be overbudget and poorly done, as a general rule.

We've got to get off of our butts.

And find a way to upgrade these facilities.

COME ON SKIP BERTMAN!! SAVE US!!

I'm truly worried about this. No way that I can stomach a backslide to the Hallman days because we can't figure out a way to raise money.

  7. Good idea, I'm right behind you. I've put the TAF thing off for a while for some reason.

I am a TAFer too. I was thinking about buying my dad a memebership as a gift sometime. And if you donate money to any of the TAF causes specify which project you want it to go to and on some of them you earn double points.
