Bama officials were probably on the phone recalling their SEC official donation.

The mention of the foot (the left foot, to be precise) is used as a hypothetical scenario. The section from the linked PDF file that we're discussing are from a section called "Interpretations". The reason for the interpretations is to give officials (and fans) a likely scenario.

I rewatched the video, and looked at the still picture posted above, and it seems clear to me that he trapped the ball - it was very convincing at full-speed - I was high up in the stands, so I didn't have a great view, but it sure looked like a catch to me, and I can understand a ref on the field, without a completely perfect view of the play, could have also thought it was a catch. But the replay of the play, in slow-motion, without the crappy youtube compression, showed the replay officials what really happened...

One foot = one elbow = one a$$ = one knee cap = 5 phalanges. Etc. I'd find it in the rules but I really could care less at this point.

I already did. The ball moved when he hit the ground therefore he did not have total control of it. I don't know how it could be and clearer.

Why is no one talking about the TD catch by Alabama in the back of the endzone. I was drinking pretty heavily but it was not clear that he had possession when his right foot was down, then the next thing that touched was his hand out of bounds.

    It was not even reviewed.

Yeah I know, but if you gonna talk about this one, let's talk about the other one that scored 6 on us.

During the game, I had to call my dad about this one becuase I could not wait in the stadium for the results. My dad told me on the phone "It was close, this could go either way."

When I got off the phone, Bama fans all around me asked what he said. I told them "Dad says there is no doubt that the Bama player caught the ball. The refs will have an easy time deciding this one."

They all got really excited. Then the ref announced the reversal. Never heard so many people get so upset at the same time around me.

Then I whispered into my wife's ear and told her "Dad said it is a very close call." Talk about a good laugh at the time during the stressful game! :D

My point? It was a close call. However, we should agree with Bama fans when they say something was a bad call. That will just piss them off that much more. That's more fun for us. :hihi:

No. I do not think he was down. If I remember right he was rolled and landed on the defender before he made contact with the ground and after the fumble. Great D play BTW.
