This was handled in the worst possible way. (I am wife of saltyone, by the way.) Well, after 5 years we find out the man has no class. I think someone should take the voodoo hex off the New Orleans Saints and put it on the Miami Dolphins. To wait until he was in another state after letting this go on for days, not to mention on Christmas Day, shows a complete lack of regard for the players, the fans, and the school itself. Well folks, I guess we can all rest easy tonight knowing that money talks.

He had no reason to be loyal, isn't from Louisiana or LSU.
It was just a job until the right opportunity came along, I don't have a problem with him going, just the way the whole thing went down.

But thank God we won't go through this again, time to find the new coach!

He wanted to tell his players first. That's class to me.

I agree with sourdough. He hired on to coach LSU football and that's what he did. And very well I might add. We now have in place for 2005 a national championship caliber team. Yeah he'll be missed, but 'ole SKIP will find us another winner. But boy oh boy do I hate the dolphins.................HA

What the hell is wrong with the way it went down? That he didn't end up staying? We all knew his leaving was a distinct possibility. Should he have accepted the offer the 1st day so we as fans didn't have to wait out the decision? I don't get it. The only thing any of us should be upset about is that Saban is no longer our coach. I just don't get all the Saban bashing here. The guy did not want to leave. It took about 5MM ayear and near total control of the football operations and God knows what else to finally get him to leave LSU. Saban did nothing wrong here people. Get over yourselves.

:( He'll realize how big of a mistake he'd made when he has to deal with being at one of the NFL's worst franchises

I'm guessing Travis Daniels, Dwayne Bowe, etc.

He wanted to speak to the entire team. He couldn't do that here. That's not so hard to understand is it?

I'm just going to copy and paste my reply to each of these "jaded fan" threads...

Geez how fast you guys turn. I don't believe he really knew his decision until late yesterday. I have to feel like he had a lot to think over and wanted to be absolutly sure before he made his final choice. He would have announced it sooner than he did if he had known that was what he was going to do. I have no ill will for the way it was handled. In fact, it says a lot that he put so much thought into this and he was torn between here and one of the best jobs in the NFL.
