Offensive Line Concerns

  1. I know that MOO U gave us everything they had on Thursday, which explains great play by their defense, especially in the redzone. However, I have some concerns about our offensive line being able to do what CLM is asking it to do week in and week out.

    These boys have been cracking skulls up front but I could vividly see they were worn down, especially in the redzone on 12plus play drives. Thats the problem with the ground and pound, by the time its 3rd & Goal, our boys are just as tired as the D and we were having trouble punching it in. Moo U's defense isn't as good as we made them look. I know it was a short look and an emotional game and all that hoop lah, but let's be honest, EVERY game is an emotional battle when you are ranked this high. Every team is going to pin their ears back and bring it.

    Teams are Begging us to run and Challenging us to start going over the top, post routes, deep slants, PA Bombs! Has Lee has not taken enough shots deep!

    We have to improve our play calling! We will be much more effective when we can pass legitimately and just as importantly, to give our O-Line a few breathers throughout. Pass block some times can be a rest play.

    After re-watching I see the improvement is Lee and Beckham right before my eyes, RS needs to come back and make it VERY noticeable he was out!!

  2. 8-9 defenders in the box, yet Lee has been well protected and the running game has been strong. The OL is just fine.
  3. I just finished watching the uo/ lsu game. There has been an improvement between lee and his receivers timing for sure. The lsu team aginst state looked much better than they looked aginst uo, especially in the passing game
  4. Chavis rotates 9 men on the defensive line in every game. Studrawa plays his starters the whole game on the offensive line. This concerns me, too. We have depth that we aren't taking advantage of.
  5. My concerns are the injuries on the OL. We can't afford any more, really. And yeah, I think we need to rotate some guys a bit...like Collins, for instance. Get him in there...get him some experience. That way, if we DO suffer another injury, we have someone with experience.
  6. T-Bob got beat a couple of times and Collins came in and played a bit. Blackwell got pulled after several penalties and Williford did very good in the second half, I thought. Not to mention Shaw coming in for Faulk and playing most of the game. I guess circumstances are what it takes for the two's to get playing time. Lonergan and Hurst played every snap as far as I can remember.
  7. Shaw impressed the heck outta me. But yeah, that's the point...I would like to see the young guys get some reps that aren't as a result of someone else screwing up or getting hurt.
  8. Any news on Faulk's injury?? Kind of worry about him. Like you guys' said, we can't afford more injured folks in the OL.
  9. I've heard ankle sprain, but with Miles, that could mean anything. Possibly amputation...and Miles would still say "he's knicked"...
  10. Pass blocking isn't a "rested play". And instead of "taking it to you opponent" in run blocking, generally, pass blocking allows your opponent to bull rush you.

    It's all moot anyways. Doesn't matter if you run block or pass block, they are STILL hitting or getting hit so who cares how they're cracking skulls.

    We have enough depth along the line to give any lineman a break if they need one.
