1. I think Archie Manning will is being contacted... mark my words.
  2. Evidentally you didn't hear his remarks about Cut being fired. He is the most pissed off Reb in the country. And he woud be a terrible coach.
  3. "Ole Miss fired a coach with a winning record in Southeastern Conference play, a guy who wasn't using the school as a stepping stone to another job. David Cutcliffe isn't much of a quote, but he cared about his players, and his assistant coaches.

His loyalty to his assistant coaches is what cost him his job."

Loyalty to assistant coaches who aren't getting the job done has cost many a head coach his job. All head coaches should be aware of this. Charlie Mac (Charles Peavey & others) and Gerry Dinardo (Lou Tepper) both lost their jobs, despite winning records, for the same reason.

This is not a problem with Nick. He cuts loose any assistant coach who does not meet his high expectations. Turnover among assistants is important. It allows a coach to upgrade his staff and prevents stagnation of ideas and groupthink from setting in.
  4. true but without some teeny bit of loyalty assistants that are experienced and good won't be beatin down the door to work for a head coach that shucks you like last weeks newspaper's. Job security means something too.
ask the teamsters or welder's union folks........
  5. I agreee. Of course Saban would get rid of them if they weren't doing a good job, but the man does inspire loyalty. The first contract he signed with LSU had a clause for a bonus (don't remember how much the bonus was) if he won an SEC championship within 3 years of his hiring. When we won it in 2001, he spread the bonus he received equally among his assistance. Even further evidence of what a class act he is.
  6. You're right about that but I have to wonder if Cut did know who he shoud let go but being told to make wholesale changes on his staff was just too much for him and that Ole Miss knew he would not get rid of that many guys, thereby trying to force him to resign. That would have saved them a bunch of money.
  7. looks like old Cut may have the last laugh, he left with a two mill buy out in place. Nice tidy sum to leave town with. Hell the whole town aint worth that!
