Wow... and don't we only have like 7 seniors on the team? So from now on we aren't going to be able to sign as many people each year? No more of these 20-25 person signing classes, right? Does that mean we won't have signing classes ranked as high any more?
No..Not at all. Next year there will be more seniors. Probably around 20 (not sure exactly). We should usually get around 25 every year. This year is different because we have 2 greyshirts, 2 transfers, and 2 schollies taken away (self imposed). Plus every year kids transfer or quit the team. And we will see more and more kids leaving early for the NFL (with all that talent that is being assembled). The number most years will be around 25, this year is not the norm.
Right, we have very few seniors. That is why it is so hard to be dominant any more. If there were no scholarship limits, all 3 of the Louisiana kids that committed to Auburn would be going to LSU. We have turned away several other highly ranked players already as well. Nothing you can do about it.
I don't think 25 will be the norm. I would say more like 20. We had very low numbers because of massive attrition/ grade problems with Dinardo. I recall seeing Florida State only signing about 15 or so for several years. But yes this year will be much tighter than most.
I counted and it looked like 21 Jr's on scollarship (give or take 1 or 2), so that should be right on for a full class of 25. As long as we keep graduating 20 or so player every year, we should get the full allotment of 25, this year being an exception.
But you also have to count the number of redshirts into that total. 21 in each class plus redshirts= too many.
There are 33 "freshmen" on scholarship right now. That only leaves 52 for the other 3 classes. Yes attrition and NFL will definitely alter the numbers. My brain hurts. Good night.
