Sunday we went to eat at Landry's Seafood in Pierre Part, La, once inside we were informed: " We are out of Crawfish, Crab and Turtle. Nice menu, but out of too many items. So left us at the table with ordering Gumbo, Fish or Shrimp. FYI, after all this rain the spillway came up right at 5 inches. Still needing more water for crawfishing. Hope to have a great season this year. Oh, Broiled Fish, Broiled Shrimp, Fried Shrimp and Stuffed Shrimp were what we ended up having, all was very good.
I just had to google where Pierre Part is, always heard of it.....now I know. I love fresh seafood but if I had to choose one and only when they are at their best, realizing some crawfish etc are better than others.......I would have to go with good boiled crabs. Just love when you can get that big lump of white meat out, when it's seasoned just right, cooked just right to me that's the best.
Gumbo is something I will NEVER order when eating out. I like the one I make at home above all others; plus, when I cook one I cook a lot and freeze it in portions for later. In short, always have plenty on hand. Wish I could get you over to eat some of my turtle. Still have 12 lbs in freezer from last spring. About to cook some for some colleagues.
Made a shrimp gumbo last night. My son & his daughter were over for dinner. She liked it and my wife said it was good. I ate two bowls.
I've watched it a couple times in passing but can't say I've watched an entire episode, watching the embellishment of coonasses be coonasses doesn't do much for me, I grew up around a lot of people like that......
