Are you looking at really sick people with really disgusting homes filled with dead rodents and shit? Yes. The only aspect of the show that is lacking is a 3-month to 1-year follow up. It isn't real unless we find out if the "therapy" worked.
IDK about the show but my ex wife was at least a borderline hoarder. When I left there were rooms you couldn’t get more than a step or two into. Every room had shit on the edges that we had to create paths around yet every weekend she went garage sales and clothes shopping picking up more “treasures”. There were clothes a decade or more old that still had the price tags.
Just going through this thread for the first time....last fall they put two of them on an island in the swamp just north of Morgan City. A record was set for the program's quickest tap-out there; the guy called it quits in less than a day. September in south Louisiana is absolutely brutal.
