Guys and girls i would just like to ask each of us to show a little perspective. Did any of the tiger fans realisticly predict a team with inexperienced qb's to go undefeated or win the NC this year? I predicted 9-3 before the season and i may be one game off or right on. With Perilloux we might have 1 or 2 more victories at the end of the season and be in the thick of it but his leaving right or wrong left a void in experience. Acknowledge and accept that fact. Sure it is frustrating having a young qb and in the big games it shows the most. Look back at Stafford and John Parker Wilson and some of the mistakes they made as young qb's in the SEC. I am not making excuses but just trying to bring back some perspective for myself and others. Jarrett Lee is gaining some valuable experience right now that given a chance to develop and mature will pay dividends when he is older and i want to thank him for hanging in there and trying his best. I have not seen him bad mouth his team mates or take out his frustrations or do anything other than try to do his best . To be honest i am more concerned with seeing our corners play 10 yards off of a team with a short passing game and not be aggressive. Defense is attitude and at least in the second half we started moving up on the receivers and contesting the catch versus the catch and react. It took a lot of courage to come back and i am greatfull that we have a team that never gives up. They showed it against alabama and they showed it last night. I would ask all Tiger fans to hang in there and step back a little and give the coaches and team their support for the team we have. Look forward to the future because it looks bright with the class we have coming in. And help this team finish strong and this is still shaping up to be a great year. Geaux Tigers
Great post, and I agree with you wholeheartedly. I do have one question, though. Would you feel this way if they had not comeback to score 37 points in 16 minutes, and lost to Troy? I am just curious. Hopefully, our issues are correctable, but boy, I sure think things would be pretty troubling had we not found a way to win that game last night, and it took a historical finish to do it. Personally, I expected 9-3. If we had lost to Troy, we would have been lucky to finish even. Of course, the opposite is the case when you consider we were close to going up on FLA 21-20 late in the 3rd qtr until we threw a pick and they went down to make it 27-14 turning that game around again, and we certainly should have beaten ALA. Boy, seasons can hinge on a few plays, a few turnovers, and definitely emotions. Let's hope we can use the Troy momemtum to kick a.. on Ole Miss.
I would feel the same way after i had calmed down. I expected a little letdown from the team coming off a big game loss and a lesser opp. coming in. But i thought our talent would keep us closer. This game would have helped us more earlier in the season preparing for spread offenses to come but still having the season ahead of us instead of being right after the Bama game. I am not saying that their are not things we can improve on and do better at. But that is with every team after a win and a loss. During the game i get caught up in the emotion just like everyone else does.
Great post :thumb: The fact that Lee was able to come back and lead the team speaks volumes for the kid. I do not believe Lee is as hopeless as some fans feel.
Most definitely. I wholeheartedly agree. I look at him as learning, although he might have issues, the boy shows promise. Big promise. I truly believe he can be the leader and quarterback this team needs. So what if we have an off season? Can we truly expect EVERY season to be an SEC championship/National Championship season? Dear God people, just look at what we had in the 80's and 90's and BE GRATEFUL to see what we have now. Someone said it in another thread, our fans as a whole are SPOILED. I, for one, feel like it's paying off to have been a Tiger fan my whole life. As always, :geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
For the first time in the second half, I felt as though the Tigers played like a "team" this year. Focused and taking it to someone rather than reacting. Thats what they did in the first half, letting them catch the short pass and than reacting with letting them get YAC. Glad we corrected some of the problems on defense in the second half. Wish I knew enough about the defense to know, other than the obvious, what the issues were. Huge for J-Lee to come back like he did in the second half. That took guts and talent. Lets also not forget to give credit to Troy, the players came to play and the coaches obviously did their homework. Interesting to see how we play this week. And by the way, I froze my @ss off.
Couldnt have said it better if I tried... I am just glad we dont have to play USC this year.... because we wouldnt be able to hang... and all the USUCK fans would be screaming how much better they are than us... I am just hoping that an SEC team... destroys either Texas, Penn State, USC,... dont think Texas Tech is going but who know with this screwy system.... would have been nice to have played in a BSC game but I think we would be like Notre Dame when we destroyed them few years back.... this is a year to live and learn.... get em next year...
