I'd love to be in the top 5. In my opinion the rankings should carry over through seasons. We just won the NCG. We're undisputed #1. We should start the season as such and it would be ours to lose. *shrug* Unfortuantely that's not how the system works. The teams I listed all have a legitimate shot at being top 5. They'll all be loaded next year. As will we.. especially if we have a stay for their last year.
Kevin Ford seems to think so. I find it hard to believe, but it's not surprising the way the media feels about us. There's no doubt USC will once again be crowned National Champions before the game is even played...go Stanford!
I will say i'm looking forward to a #1 USC vs #3(ish?) OSU match up early in the season. I'll be pulling for OSU. It would lead to a great rosebowl rematch. UGA vs OU for the BCSCG. EDIT: Unless we sneak in there! :geauxtige
The thing about the BCS is that it's not always up to the team to control what happens. You need voters and a couple of computer polls to help you. But what we CAN control is the SEC West and winning the SECCG. As this season proved, as well as last year with Florida, win the SEC and THEN anything can happen. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The goal, first and foremost, should always be to win the SEC...after that, the rest is laginappe.
Well said. The SEC is the goal. The rest is icing. Pre-season picks mean nothing if you don't take care of business.
