Sept. 3 vs. Wisconsin (in Green Bay)
The Badgers are going to be really, really good, and the Dave Aranda-less defense will give Leonard Fournette a nightmare of a time, but by the fourth quarter the Tiger defensive front will take over. The LSU secondary will dominate.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 24, Wisconsin 17
Sept. 10 vs. Jacksonville State
Jacksonville State has been a dangerous team at times over the last few years, but LSU won’t have any problems rolling through the sandwich game to get ready for the SEC opener. Fournette will have 150 yards by halftime.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 45, Jacksonville State 10
Sept. 17 vs. Mississippi State
The Bulldogs will come up with a terrific fight. The defense will be fired up to stop No. 7, and this will be when Brandon Harris and the Tiger passing game have to step up. The offense will look outstanding when needed in an efficient, tough victory.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 31, Mississippi State 21
Sept. 24 at Auburn
LSU will have to fight through a tough first half, but then it’ll be about the ground and pound as the offense takes control in the second half. This will be a grind, but LSU will survive and advance.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 27, Auburn 13
Oct. 1 vs. Missouri
Back-to-back Tiger on Tiger action with LSU following up the trip to Auburn with the date against Mizzou. The Tigers from the East will bring the heat with a great pass rush disrupting everything in the backfield, but their offense will never get going. It won’t be pretty, but LSU will get the job done.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 23, Missouri 13
Oct. 8 at Florida
The Tigers will be on a roll with the eyes of the world watching the showdown in Gainesville, and then the Gators' defense will chomp down on the passing game. It’ll be a fun, emotional battle with Florida getting a great day from the running game to do just enough to overcome a fantastic day from Fournette.
Preseason Prediction: Florida 23, LSU 20
Oct. 15 vs. Southern Miss
Be really, really careful with this one, LSU. Southern Miss will be deep in the hunt for the Conference USA title with a dangerous offense and a good enough team to do something special, but the Tigers will wake up in time to get by.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 34, Southern Miss 23
Oct. 22 vs. Ole Miss
This could be one of the best games of the SEC season. Ole Miss will be coming off a trip to Arkansas, but having some time off the week before should help a little bit. LSU will be in desperate need of a break, but it’ll find a way to win a great battle that’ll come down to a late field goal.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 26, Ole Miss 23
Nov. 5 vs. Alabama
Both teams get a week off for what the showdown of all showdowns.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 23, Alabama 20
Nov. 12 at Arkansas
It’s going to be up to LSU to crank it up after the emotional game against Alabama – no matter which way that goes – but the same goes for an Arkansas team coming off a battle against Florida. The Hogs will have it, right up until they lose it. The Tigers will get enough balance late to pull ahead.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 20, Arkansas 17
Nov. 19 vs. South Alabama
The Jaguars should be okay by this point, after fighting through the inexperience for the first part of the year. It won’t matter. LSU will hardly be focused, but it’s Senior Day – and Leonard Fournette Day. There won’t be a problem.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 47, South Alabama 13
Nov. 26 at Texas A&M
Texas A&M should be on a nice roll in the second half of the season. Last year, the A&M game turned out to be a big deal for Les Miles and his era – could this year’s battle matter for Kevin Sumlin? LSU will need this for the West and a trip to the SEC title game, and it’ll get it with a huge game by the D to keep the Aggies in check.
Preseason Prediction: LSU 34, Texas A&M 23
2016 Prediction: 11-1
2016 SEC Prediction: 7-1
