Each year Steve Helwagen of Bucknuts.com provides us all with a great service. He collects all of the preseason rag polls and consolidates them into a concensus poll.

As of yesterday, Steve had accumulated 13 preseason polls. They are Athlon, TSN, CBSSportsLine.com, SI.com, CollegeFootballNews.com, Lindy’s, NationalChamps.net, Scout.com, Football Action, Street & Smith’s, Steele and two polls from ESPN.com (Ivan Maisel and Pat Forde).

You can see and read more on the poll at

OhioState is in bold because, well, it's Steve's school... imagine spending your entire life as a Bucknut... sad, I know.
Now I see why CFN did their overrated thing on the Big Ten, as there is virtually no way, short of devine intervention, that 3 schools from any conference could finish 4th, 5th and 7th.

Remember, this compulation was completed before the announcement of God playing at FSU.
...and all that love for Tennessee, go figure.

Tennessee at #3 ?

I'd be surprised if both UT and OU finish in the top 6. One of them probably will but I don't see both finishing that high. :dis:

So... all fUSC has to do is beat #18, #19 and #21... compared to any other top ten schedule that's a walk in the park.

Of course the USC fans will jump and down and scream that their opponents are underrated and all of the SEC and Big 10 teams are overrated. They will talk about the non conference schedules and how that just makes the SEC seem to be better than they are.

Well, your close game at home versus Oregon State last year and our slaughter at the hands of Arizona State certainly didn't make them hit the mute button.
Here's hoping you take out ASU in good fashion this year to properly realign the moon and stars.

Looks good! I'm quite satisfied with a #8 starting spot. If LSU gets through Florida undefeated, that's 4 wins over top 25 teams in the first 7 weeks of the season---a top 5 ranking by the first week of October is a lock, a top 3 ranking all but assured.

Yes, Aubie will be in the top 25 in mid-October, by the way.

They don't have an inch to talk. They should have lost to Stanford.

They should have lost to Stanford, Cal, Va. Tech, and Oregon State.
