Well, I don't think he will be playing 14 games, so poof goes your 3000 yards and since he didn't quite make his average your "theory" takes another hit. Lastly, NONE, ZERO, NADA, of my comments have been or will be to the player. MY ENTIRE point IS THE FACT, this coach as so accurately proven in the most embarrassing loss this school has seen in the last 20 years, REFUSES to address an obvious problem. Hasn't the QB from Penn State been in a football game.................were not ALL of his home games played before 100K plus (negating any crap about nervous). I have seen all I need to see with the current QB, he CAN NOT get the job done. The defense even with the crippling injuries they suffered today STILL PLAYED well enough to win and the ENTIRE OFFENSIVE side of the equation from players to coaches let them down. Mark it down, LSU is not done losing this year without some serious adjustments.
Mettenberger has an arm and a lot of upside, but he isn't developing fast enough to help us achieve much this season. Poor pocket presence, holding on to the ball too long, fumbling, throwing interceptions and I don't think he is reading sophisticated SEC defenses very well. This ain't junior college. I remember when Les benched Jefferson for Lee in 2010, Jefferson stepped up his game instantly. Maybe its time to take the redshirt off Bolden and take the baseball cap off Rivers and give Mettenberger some competition.
I think you're right. I think some of the lack of passion in the play of the offense may have something to do with having Zero fear of losing their spot. I like the fact that he's a "players' coach", but you still have to hold a player accountable for poor play and little/no improvement week to week.
LMFAO, red, I said the same words last week and was called a f'n asshole for suggesting such a thing. So I guess you are a f'n asshole too.
I'm gonna tell you guys the brutal honest truth. In this offensive scheme, we need a quarterback that is a freakish athlete that can escape and run. It's nothing against Mettenberger, but we don't throw enough or throw it well enough to have a pocket quarterback. It's really sad, but I think it's true. Think about this, Jordan Jefferson wasn't a running quarterback. He had some good speed because of his long strides, but he wasn't a good runner, he was an average runner, and I think that is why our offense was so stagnant under him. We also had great receivers that could bail him out at times, and make huge plays.
And this time last year, folks were complaining because JL was "looking over his shoulder" because JJ was getting playing time, too. So, which is it? Miles has tried different offensive line packages and a lot of different WRs are having balls come their way. It's true he hasn't put in a different QB, but with the oline and WR problems, I'm not sure a different QB is going to pan out much better.
I was all about rotating Lee and Jefferson from the start (that never actually happened like I thought it should). I don't think that's the way to go this time. Behind Mettenberger is a whole lot of youth that will do no better. It isn't the QB, it is the scheme. Mettenberger is actually executing the scheme pretty well, I think, I'm pretty sure it is the scheme that is terrible. That and dropped passes.
