1. A buddy of mine and I are headed to Baton Rouge so dhead can sign my copy of Golf Digest (I don't really have one, but I am gonna get him to sign my replica of the PNC Trophy) and take in the game.

My question to you is: is it better to come over from Mobile on I-10 and cut across on I-12 (or is there still some closed sections?) or come down I-59 from Birmingham and hit I-12?

    Expert advice?
  2. To be honest it's about the same. The last few times I've headed to Auburn I took the Mobile way.......
  3. from someone who has lived in Auburn for 2 years, Mobile for 12 years, and Baton Rouge the rest. I would suggest the Mobile route. While living in AU I always came that way. The roads are fine, my parents have made the trip over her from Mobile several times since the storms.

Thats about as "Expert" as you can get, since I have lived in AU, Mob, and BR.

  4. What the hell were doing living in Auburn? Please tell me you didn't go to school there........

btw, MikeD is a big closet AU fan. He had the bumper stickers and all back in the day :hihi:
  5. I did the big "NO, NO" and followed a chick I was dating up there after high school (We all make mistakes, don't we). Went to a junior college up there for 2 years then left. I never pulled for AU though.... :hihi:
  6. I live in Atlanta and down 65 through Mobile is better. First there is no speed limit on I-65. That is 167 miles of your trip. The flow of traffic easily moves at 85-90. Secondly you are in Mississippi for only 75 miles when you go through Mobile. You are on Mississippi interstatate alot more when you go on 59. The reason I bring that up is MS state troopers are alot more strict and patrol more than the Bama smokies.
  7. Auburn to Mobile is really easy. From Mobile to Baton Rouge, the flow is usually good until you get to Covington and it starts to get congested. However, the whole interstate from Mob to BR is up and running and if you drive during the early hours of the day it is usually not that bad. And yes, the MS state troopers are the devil.
  8. If your coming from Birmingham I would take I-59. I just came back to N.O. three weeks ago from Birmingham b/c of Katrina. I went I-65 (b/c Rita was going through Mississippi). They are work on the bridge in Passagula(sp). They are using one side of I-10 both ways you can only do 35mph. Plus the twin spans in New Orleans is the same way. I have a friend who lives in the Ham and he just went i-59. Took him 4 1/2 hours doing 85-90 to get to New Orleans. You can cut over on I-12 in Slidell to get to BR. Have a safe trip.
  9. They are finished working on I-10 over the Pascagoula River...back to normal thank God.
