Tenn has a really high rpi. significantly better looking record, too which probably carries more weight.

So, #25 Syracuse also loses today, to unranked Seton Hall.

That's three teams in the AP 20-25 that go down, and as far as last weeks goes, UNC and LSU jump in. Now, we just have to keep it going by winning. It's been a while since we were ranked AND were able to sustain it.

While I agree with the last poster that Tennessee has a good RPI, I don't think the AP is generally based off that. I DO think they're getting some cred' because they only have 3 losses, and folks have been reluctant to put LSU higher b/c they have 5 losses, but our losses are to all highly ranked teams. What is Tenn's SOS? Anyway, I think the Vols are getting the love b/c they beat Texas early, they only have 3 losses, and the media loves Pearl. LSU is a better team than them right now. We'll see of course when we play the Gators how good we are...

If Pitino gets his crappy a$$ team ranked again this week, there needs to be a poll burning somewhere

Most new polls have come out...

LSU makes a jump to #24 in AP, unranked in Coaches' Poll, #14 in CBS's Sportsline poll, and #20 in CBS's Sportsline RPI poll.

And, sure enough, Lunardi of ESPN does have LSU as a #3 seed in the Washington DC bracket, playing Samford. This is based upon a 13-5 record still...

I know folks are bummed after the 'Bama loss, and it affected our standings, but no reason not to follow the numerology...

LSU drops due to the Bama loss, but not far--they fall to #26 in AP, they're still unranked in Coaches' Poll (but just outside looking in, at #26), #18 in CBS's Sportsline poll, and because official RPI seems to be generated on Thursdays, they still sit #21 in the NCAA RPI poll. Another RPI simulator also has the Tigers still locked in at #21, with a 14-6 record (http://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2006/rpi).

And, LSU still sits as a #3 seed on ESPN's bracketology, but have been moved to the Oakland bracket, playing UC Irvine. They also have a <> indicator next to them  .

Other notes of interest, with these new RPIs, two SEC teams to watch ... Vanderbilt and Georgia. With a run at the end, these teams could be darkhorses for additional SEC bids... Oddly enough, Arkansas has fallen out of the picture (again, more reason the Tigers have to be prepared for a frenzied hog team).

Currently ESPN, has 5 SEC teams getting in, Florida, Tennessee, LSU, Alabama and Kentucky. :geauxtige

the bama loss didnt hurt because it really improved our sos. rpi even went up according to some. if the committee really looks at wins vs top 50, meaning a win over #50 is much better looking than a win over #51, then it might actually be better to lose to bama so they have a top 50 rpi. of course, you never know how it well end up. pretty stupid if they look at it that way, but it wouldnt surprise me.
