I am under no illusion that the refs lost this game for us. I recognize that it was the boneheaded call by miles to spike the ball and the boneheaded decision by jefferson to actually spike it. But i couldnt help but remember at the end of the game the fumble that chad jones forced after the onside kick ( i believe the score was 17-9). after watching it multiple times it seems clear to me that the ball was coming loose before his knee was down and even if it wasn't the video wasn't conclusive enough to overturn the call on the field. On that same drive, ole miss scored after chad jones (i think) was held on the play. he may not have had a chance and we may not have scored on the recovered fumble but you have to wonder what would have happened if those call went our way...

i hate to harp on the refs after a loss that clearly could have been prevented by our team and coaches but it was just something i noticed

damn i forgot about the fumble that was overturned. I thought the ball was coming out, and i definitely didn't think that enough video evidence was there to overturn the call. Damn thanks for reminding me of that play.:dis:

This has been on my mind as well. The use of replay in college football this year has been terrible. What is the standard supposed to be? 'Indisputable video evidence'? I have seen too many times that plays which could have been called either way were overturned by the replay booth. Is there any accountability? Is any kind of post-mortem done on replay calls. In layman's terms, I always thought replay was used to correct obvious mistakes, not to shift a judgment call from the field to the booth.

Does the replay booth have different angles to look at a play that aren't broadcast? In the ones they were showing on CBS, Chad Jones' body was blocking most of the shot so you couldn't tell if the ball was coming loose or not as the Ole Miss player's knee was coming down. If you can't see that critical element of the play, how can you justify overturning the call on field?

But there were some close calls in the first qtr. that went LSU's way; refs have been horrible all season, but they didn't really have much of an effect on this one. I got what you're saying, though.

I agree with you on this one.
There is no don't that the Refs in the SEC are poor quality but we have to learn to live with them.
NO, the Refs didn't cost us the game on that one play!
IF that was the case this football team isn't very good.

Good teams and Good coaches can overcome one to two bad calls in a game.
I don't think that call should have been overturned btw but I think we benefited greatly by the calls in the first Q.
WE were lucky not to be down by at least 2 tds after the 1st Q.

I blame the coaches mainly Crowton for fielding a terrible offense this year with no improvement.
I think they did a terrible job taking advantage of RS's skills this year btw.
I feel like they wasted one of his years of eligibility.
NONE of this stuff would've mattered if the offense wasn't so bad this year.
Last year was the defense and now this year is the offense.
Maybe things will even out next year?

Not to mention the amount of crap I'm going to take tomorrow from the Bama fans, OM fans, Ohio State fans, and dare I say the Auburn fans, the same Auburn team the drug OM up and down the field a few weeks ago. Gugh.

Well, we lost this game because our coaching was horrible. Our team didn't play well, but in the end, the players gave us a chance.

But I gotta say, if the clear-to-entire-world evidence wasn't enough to overturn the interception non-call on the MOTHERFU%&$NG FIELD against Bama , then the weak-azz evidence in this game shouldn't have come close to overturning the call on the MOTHERFU%&$NG FIELD.

And one more thing, I'm tired of these MOTHERFU%$&NG SNAKES ON THIS MOTHERFU%$&NG PLANE! I just thought I'd throw in that great movie quote since I was on a roll with the MFs anyway.

Yeah, we were lucky in the beginning with the penalties on the near pick 6. I wouldn't have called those penalties.

But I'm sick of getting screwed and seeing everyone else get screwed with the video replays. I don't trust those azzholes who do the reviews. If the refs have to show their face, then these azzholes in the booth should be seen to. It's like magic or something. Let's go to the booth with the magic video guy that nobody sees so that he can tell what he thinks in all his infinite wisdom. It's like the Wizard of Oz or some $hit. Meanwhile, the guy in the booth is sitting behind a curtain wearing an Ole Miss thong along with one of those giant Ole Miss #1 foam fingers. I don't trust that whole system at all.

And you know, we need some BALLS at LSU. It pissed me off that after the LSU/Georgia game ended, the SEC came out immediately and said that they made a mistake and apologized for the unsportsmanlike penalty against Georgia and said that the one against LSU was legit and all this bull$hit.

And hey, I agree. But I thought they were both bull$hit calls.

And they did the same with Arkansas after the Florida game. They even suspended the refs.

But where was our MOTHERFU$%&NG apology after the Bama game??? They could have at least acknowledged that they F'd up when the whole nation was talking about how obvious it was. To me, it was worse than those other two games because we had the replay to look at!!!!! It could have easily been reversed. That pizzes me off. Instead, we have a coach who talked about the internal process that happens and this kind of B.S.
Bull$hit. I don't mind if he has a laid back approach, but there are times when you have to show some damn fire. Because I just feel like we got flat-out cheated with that call and those jackazzes (the SEC) should have come out and held someone accountable. You know, after the beginning of week came and the SEC didn't say anything, I wanted Miles to come out and call them on it. I don't care if he had to get fined. He would have been right. Fight for the players because they're fighting for you.

I'm gonna have to disagre with this... our players didn't give a chance to win, they got their asses kicked the entire game in all phases of it, Defense, Offense, Special Teams, Coaching...
When was the last time you saw Lafell drop so many passes, when was the last time you saw JJ throw almost 20 feet over his recievers heads, he wasn't close with half the balls thrown long, he wasn't close in short passing situations... KW was doing well until he broke his ankle. But you can not punt what 6 or 7 possessions in a row and expect to win...

First of all, LaFell has been dropping passes in every game lately. This didn't just happen yesterday. Yesterday was the most I've seen in a while though from him. And JJ has thrown the ball high in just about every game. Yesterday was worse than usual, but it got a little better once he settled down some. And LaFell dropped a couple of long passes from him that should have been caught.

Our offense and defense wasn't very good, but special teams did well. We had some nice returns, kicked a 50-yard FG, blocked a punt and returned it for a TD and executed a perfect onside kick. We didn't catch the ball on a punt or two and let it roll closer to our end zone, but other than that, special teams didn't get their asses kicked. And they came up big when it counted the most.

No man, our team gave us a chance. Look, I thought we sucked for good portions of the game, but the bottom line is that they executed an onside kick, made plays and got the ball into FG position with two timeouts left and a few plays to run after we had already kicked a 50-yard FG.

Our coaches decided to pass the damn ball with a gimp QB four straight times. Our coaches failed to call a timeout with 26 seconds left on the clock. Our coaches failed to have anything at all prepared if there was another play. And our coaches failed to just get the players to do something on the spot when we had 25+ seconds to do so before the refs set the ball.

The players did not play very good. But as bad as they may have played, they gave us a chance. The coaches, however, did not.
