LSU sophomore quarterback JaMarcus Russell was not dressed in pads and did not participate in Tuesday practice sessions that were open to the media. It's the second Tuesday in two weeks that Russell has been limited at the coaching staff's discretion. Les Miles said he expected Russell to return to full practice status later in the week. After the Auburn win, Russell admitted he suffered a sprained ligament in the Florida game Oct. 15 and received twice-a-day treatment on the injury prior to playing Auburn. -- New Orleans Times-Picayune maybe we let him sit out the entire game (like a bye week) to let it heal. then, against App st. he can get his timing back down with WRs.
Miles let JR and several other players that are not injured sit out to rest up. He also said that they are healthier now than before the AU game.
He will not sit out for the entire game and will start and get significant playing time, to stay in rhythm for the season. However, it is common sense that Russell, Addai, and other starters will get a lot of rest over these next two weeks. Especially since LSU is in the midst of a 10 game stretch.
Depending on how hurt he is I wouldn't be surprised to see him just for a few series'. I do expect to see a good bit of Flynn, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.
I agree. Why even have him suit up? If disaster happened and he had a season-ending injury against North Freaking Texas...well, I'd hate to be in Les Miles shoes, that's fo sho'. Any kind of "timing" he'd lose by not playing a half against N. TX he can surely recover against "perrenial i-AA power" (as the ADept. describes them) Appy St. That vicious Appy St. defense will put JR to the test! A perfect tuneup for that wimpy Bama D!! Thanx, Skip!
He suits up because he is your starting QB and should play until the game is well in hand. There is also plenty that JR needs to work on and playing against anyone can only help. Pile up the points early and send him to the showers.
he is hurt and ligament injuries tend to be long term. There is a real chance that he will not be 100% anytime soon. But his performance certainly shows that the injury is not dibilitating.
if indeed they are hell bent on playing Perrilloux, then start Flynn and put Perrilloux in the 2nd half
