1. why are so many people anti-JR? He is ONLY a redshirt Sophmore and is 11-2 as a starter. Thier are very few quarterbacks who can step in and play lights out footballas a freshman or sophmore. There has to be a growing curve. JR will be a special QB at LSU, but you guys have to give him time. Look at the improvement with Jason Campbell last year ay Auburn. I thought JR had a VERY productive year. Yes he made mistakes at times, BUT so did Davey and Mauck when they were here. RP will also be a good QB for LSU, but lets not jump and for RP, just because JR has a bad game. It seems from the moment JR stepped foot on the field at Tiger Stadium he has been examined up and down more than any other LSU QB soley because he was a high profile recruit. PLEASE give the kid time. Just like all of us, he isnt perfect. I liked alot of what I saw from him this year, and cant wait to see him behind center in 2006 with hopefully a playbook that is more wide-open.
  2. I wish people wouldn't compare JR to Jason Campbell. LSU fans don't want to wait 4 years for a good QB. And we don't have to - we've got one right now.
  3. I agree...everyone wanted to have Rohan sit the pine and put Booty in. Does anyone remember how that worked out?

Give him next year. That is after this full season and next spring with this coaching staff. Spring this year is kind of "feel as you go" with new styles and faces. If he can come out with 9 wins with next seasons schedule he's a man in my book. Hope he does better...hell if we get another 10 wins I guess all the haters will leave and this board will have maybe a post a day. Nah...won't happen.
  4. Man, I can't wait until next year whenever JRock shuts all of his haters up. He's gonna be a big time player next year.
  5. You don't get 4 years very often from very good QB's.
  6. truth be known JR's troubles could possibly be traced to O line...at times. We may just have 3 excellent QB's ...maybe they just need a little more anchor at the O line. I know everyone said we had one of the best, but it's been a little off since big Ben left. just my .02
  7. I think russell will improve but let's not forget about RP. It should be intesting to see how spring and summer workouts go. It should be a good competition between the 2.:tigerhead
  8. I thought that was gonna happen this year. It didn't.

Let's see. Last year it was next year will be his third year in the system and he'll be great. This year, it's next year because it will be his fourth year in the sytem and he'll be even greater than he never was.

Unrealized potential is the most overvalued commodity in the world. That's because there's so much of it out there. He had the opportunity to step up this year and he did - a few times. He was mostly inconsistent, made poor decisions and fought the turf monster a bunch. Based on this season's performance, I just don't think he has enough time left at LSU to become the quarterback you think he is.

I am not a JR hater, just a Tiger supporter. Who plays is not important, how they play is.
  9. Yeah I guess 11-2 starting record aint worth ****.......:dis:
  10. Let's put some things into perspective when talking about JR. First off his record speaks for itself as the LSU starter. Secondly, his season statistics are very good and if his receivers would've caught just half of the passes they dropped JR's completion percentage would have been around 61 or 62 percent, which is great. And he would've likely been well over 3100 yards also very outstanding. Thirdly, this OL has been very disappointing IMO which has hurt the offense all season long.
The couple of knocks against JR are that because of his strong arm he doesn't throw the ball away and takes too many sacks because of his lack of mobility. And the other is that he floats or tries to force balls into places he shouldn't.
I think JR is a good quarterback - it's been a bit of a struggle for Les and Jimbo trying to find a symbiotic balance between controlling JR and letting him improvise and make plays.
Next year - if JR is going to be the "big time" QB we all hope he can be then his receivers will have to do a better job of making plays. Just catching balls that are difficult catches but ones that good receivers will make for their QBs. And the other concern is the O-line - hopefully we'll see marked improvement in the O-line play. IMO LSU's offensive success hinges on the running game. When the Tigers can run the ball, it allows the offense to be a lot more diverse.
