This guy has us as his favorite and says that LSU has him on top of their board at the Saftey position.

    50 scholarship offers and he's only a 3 star?

Rivals has Karnell as a 4 star and the 14th best Safety in the country. The only higher-rated safety that Rivals lists as having atleast medium interest in us is Jamoris Slaughter.

I think we'll have a more clear picture reguarding safety prospects once the Chad Jones baseball situation is resolved.

With Stephoin Francois and CJones in last year's class, I'm sure some of these higher profile safeties will want to see how that all pans out.

As the season unfolds, having continued solid play at the safety spots will go a long way into keeping these high school safeties constantly tuned in to LSU. With Steltz, I have no doubt that he'll keep the tradition of outstanding safeties at LSU, going.

I agree that how Francois & Jones perform affects our Safety situation. However, even if both guys look good & are on the team, I think we'll take 2 safeties in this class. Rocky would be one, and it looks like we'd like Karnell to be the other.

I don't doubt that we'll take 2 safeties in this class, but the point I was making is that a high-flight BLUE CHIP safety might not come here if he sees that Chad Jones and Francois play early and play well--also knowing that Taylor will still have another year after this one, and McCray likely to play a lot as well and only being a Junior.

Hatcher isn't quite the top-flight safety that Jones was--but he's certainly in the category as Francois, IMO.

Oh, okay. I was looking at it from our coaches' POV. I see your point though. I think our coaches will sell them on the fact that Steltz graduates, Taylor will be a senior when he gets on campus, there's a lot of PT to be had even if they aren't a starter with the packages we use, and we probably won't see much of either Jones or Francois this year.
