Unfortunately I see it the same as most Saints Panthers games. We have always struggled stopping Stewart and Williams Running the ball that wont change and hell When Delhome was there we couldn't stop Steve Smith from catching. I think we will bracket Smith so he will be controlled, but our LB's after watching film will be spying Newton more than most QB's which will make it even easier for them to run. I do see Newton making a few mistakes to let us pull away late. They won't stop us but ball control could limit our possessions. Final final Saints 34 Panthers 24
It's a good analysis. Thanks. I'll bet that your prediction is spot on. Jeremy Shockey WAS one of our favorite players and he got a ring with us. I hope that he remembers that the fans did indeed love him when he was here. The vagaries of NFL life sent him elsewhere. I'm sure he'd love to win the game for his new team and new fans.
I understand what your saying but, Shockey is way past the point in his career that he can carry a team on his back to victory. If you remember he couldn't even make a catch for us without having to limp off the field everytime. He is the softest tough guy I have ever watched play. He will make a few plays only because we are weak at LB but who doesn't. I'm sure we won't waste Jenkins on him so whatever. I'm happy with what he did for us but he is an after thought as far as I am concerned.
Just like any game this year, our success will be with which defense will show up. I think we can outscore just about anyone (cept maybe Green Bay) but if we could shut them down for a few series it sure would be a lot easier. And for Shockey, we'd still have him if he didn't ride the bench half the season with injuries. And he may have taught Graham a thing or two, including taunting. Too much Shockey influence for me.
Amazing stat I just read on nola.com. Through 4 games, the Saints have allowed a total of 10 yards on punt returns, and an average of 2.0 yards per return. Those numbers become even more remarkable when you consider they faced Devin Hester one week.
