That was actually my point. "Backup" players don't come out early , as a rule. JMO, but based on my observation, Addai doesn't have the size, durability, or big-time talent of a JV, CW, or RB, and I don't believe he would be a starter at any of the top-tier SEC programs - quite the opposite of Ronnie Brown. Rest assured, Brown would start any SEC program other than AU and LSU this year - Addai would not, IMHO. Not trying to slam anyone, just trying to point out that Caddy and JV are in a category by themselves within the SEC.

I agree, but this topic will not be resolved because of bias. But I will try anyway just to pass time until football season. I have seen Ronnie Brown and while I do agree he is a great running back, I don't agree that he is that much better than Addai. The problem with both of these guys is that they both should be starters, but because of the great guys ahead of them they don't get the opportunity to show just how good they really are. Brown had the opportunity to show what he was made of when Caddy went down two years ago, he was the premiere back on the team at that point and got most of the carries. Addai hasn't had the opportunity to ge the number of carries required to show off just how good he is. Addai had an opportunity in the Florida game last season after Carey went down in the Miss. St. game but was injured.

while Brown is a little bigger than Addai, he is not that much bigger. Addai also has the frame to add some weight if he needed to.

yeah, that is pretty cool when you stop and think about it. Too bad the universities aren't allowed to make trades, huh? With the way our two teams have stockpiled talent at certain positions, it would be nice (for the individual players and for the teams) to be able to trade surplus for demand.

Look over your stats Aubie. There have been over 20 times that SEC running backs have gone over 1200 yards. Walker had almost 1900 one season and Bo had over 1700. J Vincent had over 1000 in just 7 starts. That was against the meat of the SEC and Oklahoma. He did not start against the cupcake teams. He will be over 1200 in 2004 for sure.

Caddy, he didn't say in an SEC season, he said for the 2004 season. These are the top 20 seasons per game in SEC history.

Yes, you are correct , and I stand humbly corrected. With apologies to Bengal B, the number I meant to reference would've been the two-thousand yard barrier, not the one-thousand two-hundred mark. And, FWIW, JV is definitely capable of going for fifteen hundred, but I believe two-thousand is a reach.

Brief dislexic-senility failure on my part. In any event, and still IMO, I place a distinction between backs like CW and JV, and the remainder of other running backs within the SEC, and still believe Brown can carry the load as a starter for any other team within the conference. Should be an interesting run for the conference rushing title this coming season. If AU can duct-tape it's O-line together, Caddy may just have a shot at it, but AU will likely need a contribution from pFr. Leon Hart in order to achieve that objective.

I live in Bama and have seen Brown play many times. He would be at best the 4th back at LSU. Vincent, Broussard, Addai and Edwards are better than Brown. Carey would be too but he is too small for a whole season. Brown has a few good games two seasons ago and did nothing last year. Like Greene and Pollard at Ga., he is a legend only in his fans minds. To state that Allbarn is deeper at running back than LSU shows one knows very little about LSU's running backs. I know Allbarn's and I know which is deeper and better and it is not Allbarn's.

And like I said in an earlier post, both teams fans are a little biased towards Addai and Brown as to who is the better back. So if we are going to discuss this, lets keep it civil.

Yes, 2000 would be a reach since LSU will develope a passing game equal to the running game long before the season is over but if JV stays healthy he will have some monster games early in the season when he hardly played in last years early season games and still got his 1000 yards.
