pick lsu to win west and gd as poy
no prediction of conf champ, surprisingly

i like cohen's work, but im surprised that he says lsu lacks role players. what else do you call gt, dl and mr?
  2. how can the sec player of the year not be a role player
  3. A "role player" is someone who isn't a star, but accepts having a limited role such as being a strong defensive presence, a rebounder/cleanup under the basket guy, etc. Frequently it means "not a big scorer". Maybe you're thinking of an impact player, which GD obviously is.
  4. I don't see where he says that, unless I'm missing something? I do see him saying that many SEC teams have a lack of roleplayers, and citing Tennessee.
  5. damn media! sorry, must have read that somewhere else.
  6. Temple is the defintion of a role player. Plays solid defense all game, passes first, and rebounds.
  7. Man, you can feel the excitement building (and Geaux Lady Hoops which starts tonight!). I suppose this report is no different than Street & Smith, Athlon, etc., in that LSU is picked near the top of the SEC, and 1 or 2 in the SEC West.

I believe an underlying overall thread this season will be... how will LSU play as the favorite? Until last year, arguably, LSU was always the underdog and at times surprised. Now, it's the other way around.

Another overarching theme... will LSU rely on it's traditional defense to win games, or will Brady finally show some offensive variety given the balance of his team? I think we finally have a balanced squad, and for the sake of future recruiting, I'd love to see guys like Mason and Martin (and the other guards) really get highlighted. LSU can be more than forward U, which will lead to better guard recruiting.

We've heard time and time again that the three Ms, especially Mason bring a new element to this year's team. Will the outside shooting of Martin, the overall offensive talent of Mason and the new look Minor, really pan out?

I also can't stand that LSU hasn't played yet and won't for another week. Many schools are starting their exhibition schedule, and I would have preferred the team getting a jump sooner. For those that care, UTexas played last night with seven freshman in the line up, including DJ Augustin. In 29 minutes, DJ dished out 7 assists to one TO, made 3-5 shots and had 3 steals. Ahh... what could have been.

No worries :) :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. PACK THE PMAC.
  8. Alabama = 2004 Elite Eight

    Roll Tide!
  9. Ok:confused: I guess I concur with what he said.

Atleast he got something right but wrong place and time.
  10. Cohen is just about as good as they come...
