I dont care what team you pull for in the SEC you have to be ashamed at the quality of officiating in a conference that has as much money coming in as ours do.

It is just bad and there is no explanation for it.

But looking back when Bear Bryant was at Alabama there was no team that got more benefit from homer calls than Bear Bryant and he took his officials on the road with him.

Charley Mac got scrwed more than once against Bama by the officials.

Now the officials are just bad.

And it aint gonna change because our Commisioner is a good old boy and refuses to acknowledge the problem.

agree totally. It's miles better than it has ever been, but it's also fair to say it's probably more complex that it has ever been also. I'd like to see them establish crews that are made up primarily of full-time officials. The problem is that some of these guys already make more money in their real jobs than they ever could hope to earn as an ethical official.

I watch a lot of college football, and honestly, it's just as bad in the other conferences. Now, it would be nice if the best football conference had the best officiating, but I don't think bad officiating is limited to the SEC.

Maybe they need to think about adding another official like they did in basketball years ago. The athletes and the game has changed dramatically over the years, but the officiating hasn't kept up with it.

It was "very" common back in "Cholly" Macks days to slip the ref's a little cash, but by the same token "all" schools probably did it.

well, i guess they just added more officials with the recent advent of instant-replay, but for the life of me i can't figure out why the number of missed-calls are on the upswing.

some argue that "digital HD tv" is to blame and that it is merely a change in consumer perception.

some argue that the ever-increasing complexity of the rules is hampering the development of the quality of officiating.

and there are even a few that believe the refs are there to protect the conference and it's vast coffers of revenues.

but i like the comment that a conference as good as the SEC deserves to have the best in officiating to match. I think it would go a long way towards improving the national image of our conference. Oh, and I like the avatar too, Tigerwins

Yeah it's very difficult to find a conference with good officials. Let me just run down the list here:

SEC: you all have that covered.
Big Ten: Seems like refs like Michigan too much (surprise!)
Pac-10: See UO/OU game last year.
Big East: See UL/UCONN game last Friday.

If anyone would like to comment on the ACC and Big XII refs, feel free...I'm sure there are many examples of bad officiating from them.

i think the perception is because of more cameras and better replays.

As I've said in a previous post...Its all over...college and pro's. Don't these buttheads go to a school or something? Jeez...I really do hate these guys..and I've met a few before face to face and I'll say this. If you guys don't like them on TV you'd despise most of them in real life. Very arrogant. A great many are "attorneys" so thats about all you have to know or say.
