1. It's all a gamble. Miles took shots with Benton and Perilloux and got burned twice. He will likely not be so eager to give scholarships to guys on the edge with grades or guys who have had issues in high school.
  2. I'm really glad for both of them and hope they don't become ineligible in the future. I also hope they don't get "cut" by Saban in a numbers crunch so they have an opportunity to actually graduate.

I don't care if they're busts or not.
  3. They still have to make grades and it won't be a cakewalk for them. Every team has marginal players that can't make the grade including LSU.

Well, we've beat up on them with Alabama players for a decade. Life's a bitch.

Les gets pretty much who he wants in Louisiana and even more from out of state. We can't take every blue-chip player in Louisiana and Les can't stop Bama or anyone else from signing players here, especially if we back away because of grades. We're better off with the academically qualified and let Bama take the academic risks. Bama oversigns big time and they expect to take casualties.
  4. when youre recruiting 200 guys you have to cut some guys off at the end. when you have depth that other teams dont have the players with academic problems usually go first.
  5. ...unless you're Houston Nutt and intentionally target only those players....LOTS of those players.
