Miles is smarter than he'd have alot of people think. According to Skip, they knew that he was going to stay as early this week, as he had already told them that when Michigan asked permission. The team knew, coaches knew, assistants knew.. Everyone knew he was staying.

What he did was remove the distraction factor from the team and let the media have a field day running with it and making idiots of themselves... When a bunch of news-hungry rabid dogs come after you, throw em a steak and focus on the game ahead.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Tennessee sees all the "distractions" LSU supposedly has and takes the game lightly. Oblivious to the fact that they were in fact the distracted ones. :wave:

I think alot of people don't understand so they hate on him. Yet he still continues to prove them wrong. I also think he proved today that he is the coach we've been wanting to stick around and he showed us why that is. Hats off to him (no pun intended :lol.. As stated in another thread, he is in fact our LSU guy.

Unless Michigan knew as well, he really left a team, supposedly near to his heart, out to dry.

Actually, I thought that he was helping UM by getting this out of the way. He could have drug this out and really hurt both UM and LSU recruiting. At least now they can get on with their coaching search quickly before all of the good coaches commit somewhere else. Every day counts.

Unfortunately it was either UM or LSU that would get hung out to dry.. Yes, they were close to his heart, but so is his current team. I thought he would leave if offered.

Amazing.. He gives the LSU fans what they want, a coach that is actually dedicated to LSU, and they criticize him for it.. Just amazing. :dis:

Well, I'm waffling a bit on my comments now, but I've never listed stability as the most important criteria in a coach. I guess Miles was interested in the Michigan job which is why he wouldn't definitively say he was staying at LSU, but when LSU ponied up the money and showed him that we really wanted to keep him he finally made his mind up.

If, on the other hand, Miles had no intention of going to Michigan, it is kind of wrong for him to use Michigan to get a raise at LSU if he loves Michigan as much as he says.

I actually wonder if Michigan has even contacted Miles yet, because according to all statements to the press, that was going to wait until after the game. The story with Desmond Howard kinda makes sense, but that would mean that Miles and Michigan had spoken before the game.

You detractors are funny...but something else I wondered.

Some here, and especially on another site, scooped a story that he told the team Thursday that he was indeed leaving. My question to those of you with this "inside knowledge" is why on God's green earth did he have to call a hasty news conference 2 hours before the game and dispute the rumors to settle things once and for all as to n ot be a distraction to the team? If they already knew where was the distraction? Why would he care? Methinks all of you with "inside info" got hosed.

Miles didn't use Michiogan to get a raise! Come on! The man has won more games in past 3 years than only a handful of college coaches. He is an Elite coach, and was getting a huge raise anyway.
