That's your issue right there. I love the mortgage interest deductions on my house.

As long as we keep the Bear tax we will be safe.

I added the second kid this year. The govt was kind enough to give me my money back in a timely manner. Of course, I owe the state (Thank you Stelly Plan), so half of my federal overpayment is going to the Blanco budget. Rest assured, the check will not be postmarked before May 15th.

And I feel your pain Chaos. The wife got a nice raise this year, but her take home only increased marginally. Its getting outright ridiculous. To repeat my earlier statement, I am so tired of shouldering the tax burden of 8 out of every 10 people in this state. If we didn't have such strong family ties, my need for LSU football, and that chemical industry job thingy, I would consider getting out of here like the smart people have been doing for years.

Yep, though the government accounts for that with some sort of interim tax payment requirement. I don't remember the specifics, but it essentially says if you X amount at the end, then the next year you have to pay at the midpoint. I was so enraged by this, I think I entered a fugue state and thus can't really recall the details better.

Exactly. The problem is most other countries tax a helluva lot too, unless you REALLY make a lot of money. Then the tax breaks cut your liability to that of your average McD's employee.
