1. Alright, we all know that New Orleans is in bad shape with wind damage & flooding, but to make matters worse we are dealing with thugs that are looting, raping, shooting & stopping further rescue attempts. As if that wasn't enough, now the rest of SE Louisiana may be dealing with with these people because they've fled New Orleans & relocated.

The question is, what is the solution?? The army, national gaurd - those are short term answers to long term questions. Louisiana & the rest of the nation need an answer for these people. They are nothing but drains on the economy & far worse than just a waste of air, IMO.
  2. Buy a gun?
  3. and some bullets.
  4. 2 more months till I turn 21 - it's illegal to own a pistol before then.. technically.

I think the government needs much, much more stringent punishment for repeat criminals.

To be honest, I think the real answer is to abolish the poor black's dependence on the government. In the short run, it would cause more problems but I think that with a strict policy against crime, it could be minimized, while in the long run making the whole country better off.
  5. Before my wife and I got pregnant out of wedlock (before I graduated from LSU and found a job) and heavily used the Medicare/Medicaid and LaCHIP system I agreed with you wholeheartedly.

My tune is wholly changed now. We just need to beef up the law enforcement situation. It isn't the kids' fault their parents don't give a ****.
  6. We're you living in the ghetto in housing provided by the government? Did you use the government your entire life?

There is a huge difference between people needing help to get on their feet & people relying on the government to do everything for them their entire life.

The idea of free housing was good, but it doesn't work. It just creates an area for crime rates so bad that the police don't even want to go in it.
  7. I expected you to bash me and claim I should have taken responsibility for my own actions. Kudos to you on not doing that.

The state and the federal government have decided that they have an obligation to house people who "cannot afford" their own housing. What will we do with those people if we don't house them? Give a solution.

I don't see any way around providing free housing for these people. We have to police the areas much more effectively, however.

You see the same problems in the subsidized housing areas of BR like Mall City, Siegen Village and St. Jean apartments as well.
  8. Unfortunately because of all the "it's my right groups". Things will not change. It is part of society now. However to allow this to continue is where the mistakes are being made. Someone above said it's not the kids fault the parents don't care. That is long in the tooth. My family can do nothing I can't afford. It's not my kids fault, but we do have to run the family under the income and rules we have. If you can't pay up don't go to the dance. Personal accountability means nothing. It is the ruin of our society.

Quit giving these people money just because they have more kids. My employeer and I don't have that agreement why should them and the gov. have it.
  9. I agree with giving people a helping hand. I don't agree with supporting people their whole lives that will never do anything good, & mostly likely lots of bad.

This problem is not just in New Orleans, not just in Louisiana. It's a national problem that there has to be a better solution to.

These people grow up thinking their whole life that they are entitled to getting hand outs & turn to crime to increase their wealth. As long as we allow them to feel entitled, these problem will only increase.

I don't have the answer, that's why I asked the question. Let's atleast hear some ideas from people.
  10. Marshall law them all....everywhere
