After seeing WVA's spread offense which clicked against UGA, how do you think LSU would have done if LSU were the SEC Champ ? WVA gained my respect as they played with heart and guts, and they seem to have an offense that is not easy to stop. Of course, UGA was quite flat in the beginning with costly turnovers that did have a significant effect on the final outcome of the game. The WVA defense was quite opportunistic and wonder if they are well trained to create turnovers. ________ Sell vaporizers
It depends. Would Pelini have made adjustments? UGA's 4-2-5 D worked like a charm against us because they could get to Russell on a front 4 but against WVU they just continually got burned yet never learned. I think we would have won because our D has more speed than UGA's. That showed last night. We just got burned on some good passes that night.
I think West Virginia would have given us a tough game (West Virginia proves to me more than ever that we need a REAL playoff). Their coach is the man and I don't think he's going anywhere. Florida is going to be good when Meyer gets his players in and his system developed. Don't forget, the 1AA National Champions had plenty of success running the spread against us.
The LSU team that played in the Peach Bowl could have beaten any team in the country... If LSU had rest before the SECCG, things would have turned out differently.
But don't forget that Top 25 Florida didn't run it well.. We were just looking ahead to Bama against App St. I tell you what... for as good as their offense clicked, they scored a heck of a lot of points huh?
Florida obviously didn't have it together when we played them. They will get things together and be a force, I predict. As far as Appalachian State, I kind of exagerated how effective they were. Looking back at the stats they only gained 191 yards rushing and 80 yards passing, and scored nothing. Still, 191 yards rushing isn't too shabby, and I seem to remember us having trouble stopping their QB. So, with 1aa talent, they nearly gained 200 yards rushing against our defense, which was pretty solid this year. With the athletes West Virginia has I think LSU would have had their hands full. Florida has the potential to recruit better athletes than West Virginia, and has the potential to become a powerful team. And they have an intelligent coach to boot. What do you disagree with, again?
I was thinking about Florida when I started the thread. They would post a challenge when they get the right players in their scheme. Yet, for any offense scheme, there has got to be a defense scheme to counter it. I feel that with Pellini's experience, he should know, hopefully, how to counter it. ________ Zoloft lawsuites
When we played a 1aa team that ran a similar offense, they picked up 200 yards rushing. They didn't score, but they were also a 1aa team. I don't think West Virginia is unstopable, but when they play sharp and disciplined, your defense also must be sharp and disciplined. Georgia eventually adjusted after West Virginia racked up 28 points in almost 1 quarter, and almost pulled off the win.
There is one issue everyone seems to be forgetting, after UGA handed them 28 points (14 off of turnovers, possibly 21) UGA outscored them 35-10. It was basically an UGA beat down after the 1st quarter, Yes hats off to WVA, but once UGA said, wait a minute we wont be able to turn the ball over and expect to win this game, we have to actually play. UGA was handing them a beating. Yes WV made the fake punt to seal it, and they had that big run, but otherwise it was pretty much all UGA
14 points off of turnovers, but 3 fairly long drives (50+, 50, 47 if my memory serves). I agree with most of what you're saying, but West Virginia earned most of its early points; they just caught Georgia unprepared.
