1. Another thread morphed into a discussion about RP playing this spring and that the rules said he could not. So my question is...

I can see why RP can't play spring ball, but it does raise a question in my mind. Fall practice begins BEFORE school is in session. Why can a recruit play then though they have not officially began classes or enrolled, if that is the reason they can't play in the spring? Would not the same rule apply?

Thanks for clearing this up for me.
  2. They cannot enroll at LSU until they have graduated from high school. If he had graduated early like many guys do than he could enroll in college and participate in the spring.
  3. I've read somewhere (sorry, can't remember exactly), that RP would like to enroll at LSU for the summer semester--so that he can participate in all of the voluntary workouts, and begin throwing with the receivers.
  4. Thanks, I did not think of the HS graduate aspect.
  5. .

    Buddy Songy said it.
  6. If I'm not mistaken, the NCAA Clearingshouse must approve all players prior to beginning practice. As long as the NCAA approves it, they can begin practice in the fall, even though school as not started.
  7. Since coaches cannot be involved with the 7 on 7 drills and the like during the summer any player can participate I believe. It is probably different though for the workout sessions with Moffitt.
  8. Yeah, the summer workouts are considered voluntary, although I'm sure the coaches don't see it that way! :D

I believe the NCAA allows freshmen to participate in these conditioning workouts under the supervision of the strength and conditioning coach. I think they also allow trainers to be present in the event medical attention is required. But no coaches are allowed.
  9. I did hear that Ryan was going to enroll this summer at LSU.
