ESPN is citing the Columbia newspaper as stating South Carolina has contacted SOS about their coaching position. Apparently Lou Holtz is tired of football and unsure if he will return for the 2005 season. Holtz apparently has a 5 year option coming up this year, but his contract can be terminated by himself or the school within a 5 day notification period.

    very interesting and worth watching.......
  2. Hm....yeah, that might be all right if Spurrier went to South Carolina....Another SEC powerhouse
  3. That might be interesting. He'd get to play Florida every year. And Clemson too. Wonder if he would own son Bowden like Daddy Bowden (assuming son Bowden isn't kicked to the curb) Right on. :thumb:
  4. Well USC is one of those "on the cusp" schools, in a roundabout sense similar to LSU. What I mean is that they've got a great stadium, big fan support and good revenue - they just need someone to bring their program to the next level ala Nick Saban at LSU. Granted they don't have quite the storied past that LSU had in football prior to Saban, but there's no reason why the Gamecocks can't consistently compete with the other schools in the SEC East. I think Spurrier could elevate that program to another level if he took the job. I don't think Spurrier would take a job at a SEC East rival who has to play and try to beat Florida every year. He's a Gator first and foremost and I just don't see that changing.
  5. The South Carolina coach gets a membership at Augusta National. As much as Spurrier likes golf, it might be a deal clincher.
  6. Man if you think the Gator Nation would start stirring up the Kool-Aide if that happened.

  7. damn if that's true he may actually consider it.
  8. Spurrier to Texas

I've always had a feeling that Spurrier might eventually end up at Texas. Great golf in Austin. Great fan base. Great access to good athletes. Great facilities. And they can afford to pay him as much as it takes. I mean really, how long can Mack Brown last with the way the fans are screaming for his head. He better do something special soon. Second place in the Big 12 South is the best he has done since he's been there.
  9. SOS to USC? That would be so cool! He'd have them competing with UGA, Tenn, and UF for the East crown in short order! I do believe he is waiting for just the right college gig. I think he'd love to have the Texas job. He'd prolly also not mind taking over for Saban if Saban were to decide soon that it's time to jump to the NFL- but that isn't happening any time soon!
  10. No kidding? Damm, that would clinch it for me!
