I'm all for friendly heckling, but in front of a national television audience, do you really want to be known as the group cheering "You Suck Cock!"?

"F*** Steve Spurrier!" Also got started in the fourth quarter. No overrated, because we were sloppy as all get out, but loads of blatant sexual references, and foul language IN A CHEER. I understand if one gets worked up, stuff comes out in one long run on sentence. "What the f*** f***ing Terrence f***ing Tolliver and Kealand f***ing Williams BOTH were open what the f*** was Flynn f***ing thinking!" is a verbatim quote I heard during the game today. Oh, this same person was berating our DEFENSE the entire game. Obviously, he's an idiot, but I'm just trying to say I understand some people have no problem cursing.

However, we always claim to have southern manners and hospitality. If any of you asked your mother, whether she is living or deceased today, if it is acceptable to curse in public, what would she say? Do you think anyone of average intelligence wouldn't feel the slightest bit guilty by these cheers?

I've got no problem with Tiger Rag- I don't think that @$$hole is a very bad word. But I have a problem with the f-bomb (yes, I call it that, and yes, I refuse to say it) BEING IN A FREAKING CHEER THE ENTIRE WORLD CAN HEAR.

I can honestly say that today I was embarassed by my fellow students and to be an LSU fan. Think of the history that is being tarnished by this. Think of how people feel.

ANY school should follow this lesson, and drunk or no- SOMEONE has to take a stand against this degredation of the student section (which has become so pitiful that it can no longer sustain a clap or even wear the same colored shirts). People get offended when we aren't mentioned in the "best" student sections, just the loudest. But it's true.

Fans in the student section went beserk when the second and third USC players went down with injuries, calling them weak (yet I don't see those pricks on the field facing our defense, so STFU) and saying things like, "Three down, nine to go!" This is disgraceful. Inexcusable.

If you are a student, please take this to heart. Wouldn't it be better to be known as the best gameday experience in the country put on by the best fans?

I post this expecting backlash, but I figure someone has to take a freaking stand. I can't think of a longer post that didn't involve video games that I've written in some time, but I hope that everyone will consider this honestly before attacking me for being conservative and uptight. Really, it's not about how other people feel, it's about practicing what we preach. There's a reason people call us corndogs. It's because we called them "F***ing P***y D******d Piece of S***s." I learned the f-bomb through that quote as a second grader attending an LSU game. A fan called an opposing fan that. In front of a second grader.

In fairness, though, the cheer was "You suck, Cocks". Not defending it or saying that it was right, just pointing it out.

I do agree on the F Spurrier chant, though. Some of the things my fellow students say or chant do embarrass the heck out of me sometimes. Not for my own sake (after all, I am a grown man), but for what it makes the university as a whole look like.

It happens EVERYWHERE else. Doesn't make it right, but you're not going to change the world speaking out against it. Get over it. Granted, I do my best to watch my language when little kids are around, but at the same time, if I were a parent, I'd come prepared knowing that my kid is probably going to hear some new words. Hell, I learned to curse in the terrace of Saints games!

No it doesn't. I go to about 4 or 5 USM games every year...(wife works for USM)...and I NEVER hear that kind of garbage at the USM games. I heard it a little at the LSU/MSU game...from the LSU section. I agree with you, fried.

I think the bigger problem is the attitude of "get over it". At least friedriches spoke up about something he feels strongly about rather than sheepishly falling in line with what everyone else does.

Maybe I just don't care as much about the language at a football game. To each his own.

Fair enough. I just wouldn't want MY kids to hear it...to each his own.

Not like here it doesn't. Showing spirit is one thing. Showing their total lack of class is another. It reflects badly on the entire university.

In fairness, another cheer may be gone because of the fans yelling. Noticed on our last TD, the students weren't given the chance for the "You suck cock" cheer? It wasn't coincidental.... :dis::dis::dis:
