I am a communication design student. Me and my brother are making t-shirts for our tailgating club. If we use the block print LSU on our shirts we can do so with out copyright payment as long as we use our own logo instead of that thing we have now? I am going to sell them on my website.
I would assume that the name LSU is public domain and you can print it on your shirts. I'd stay away from the logo though.
If you use a copywrited font owned by LSU for the block letters it might be illegal. One of the lawyers on this forum would probably know. Its only 99% of all lawyers who are giving the rest of them a bad name.
who at LSU could I contact about it? I wonder? To license collegiate merchandise the cost is $1000 for LSU. To license TEXAS merch. you have to send in your design before it is approved. For LSU you basically cut a check and its all good. But, it's all dependent on CERTAIN, specific clauses. Such as, use of certain fonts and logos. As, I have designed my own personal logo, the question of rights might be moot.
It was higher but some of the lawyers were eaten by sharks who didn't respect the professional courtesy agreement between lawyers and sharks.
