1. I'm in a terrible distress. My son has a grand ball this Saturday
that parents must attend. I am panicking. Grandparents are encouraged to attend. My dad has already made his excuse (he will be watching the game of course). There is no way I can get out of this without some serious marital problems arising. The only thing I can do is bring a pocket radio with earphones (thus looking like the CIA). F**k all you bastards who will get to enjoy the game.
  2. I'm sorry man, that's terrible.
  3. Are you not creative enough to have a serious accident?

You know, cut off a little finger with a table saw, fall from ladder painting the facia on your house - that sort of thing.
  4. Set the VCR and try to avoid hearing any scores. Not the best solution, but you really don't have much to work with.

You could always find a back room w/ a tv set at this function...there are, no doubt, other folks in your situation who
will want to watch. Then, you could also pony up the $30-$50 for a 5 inch B&W tv at Radio Shack and sneak outside to watch.
  5. Delete this thread lest the pro choice crowd use it to their advantage.
  6. Tape the game and threaten bodily harm to anybody who tries to tell you an early score. I had your problem once and it worked for me.

Then go home, turn off your phone, lock yourself in a room with your VCR and your favorite cocktail and enjoy!
  7. LOL...I have been in your shoes. try this...get real drunk during the day to where you throw up. Don't tell your wife you have been drinking, just blame it on the flu.

sit back and enjoy the SECGC with no interruptions.

you can worry about a divorce atty later
  8. I have thought of the TV thing and suddenly developing a "kidney problem" thus taking many long bathroom breaks throughout the night. Also I will take any volunteers for "stand-in dad" for the night. Any takers? I didn't think so.
  9. Have the ball at your place.
Or at least take a TV in with you........I am sure they will understand.
  10. For the 'bama game, I was in your shoes...I taped the game and tried to get everyone that I was with to not let me in...but ufortunately for my plan, the people I was with wanted to know the score. For the first half, I got away with it, but after that...I couldn't avoid it and heard what the score was...
