Before the season I had doubts about our defense. ASU scared me a bit and for a few weeks afterward I thought we were in trouble, especially after The Rick shredded our pass defense. I posted here that “Tepper” was back and reached for comedy that Spadoni was a good “Drop” Linebacker. Today I would like to apologize to Coach Pellini, I smile as I type his name for the first time, and the rest of the defensive staff for all the things I wrote and thought. They evidently do know how to coach players to execute as a team at a high level.

Today I am born again. Today my faith in LSU defense is restored and all is right with the world. I thought our defensive players executed a great plan to shut down a good team yesterday. I am very pleased with the attitude with which they played. They exhibited the alacrity and control that forms the foundation of a championship team. Not only was I pleased here in Knoxville but I am sure that the dozens of blue chip defensive recruits, considering the wise decision to play college football in Baton Rouge, were delighted by this dominant defensive display.

Coach Pellini – put on more steam!

I think many of us owe Pelini an apology. We were ready to run him out of town after the first two games, now his defense is winning games for us.

Some weren't impress with what our defense did against Vandy, yet Georgia gave up over 350 yards to Vandy. Now we shut down Florida and only gave up 200 yards. What an amazing turnaround the last 3 games.

Coach Pelini, please accept my apology...

I must also agree with you. I was very worried. However our defense looks great. My props to Pelini

Props to coach Pellini! I was disappointed with the first two games, but not ready to fire anybody. I said give the guys a chance, the problems looked correctable. The D has improved a lot.

Some game experience, seeing what is not working, teaching what needs to be learned, it has come around.

    I like it!

Nice post, but you can pay the man even more respect by learning how to spell his name. :)

I agree with everyone here, the first 2 games defensively, scared the hell out of me.
I think we might've found out how the real LSU defense is going to be.

In fairness to the coaches maybe we were too harsh on them and the team when you
consider all the circumstances they had to go through, Hurricane relief and a new
    coaching staff.
Hopfully we can fix the big mistakes they we are making, how good would we actually
    be without those mistakes?

I think he owes Tiger fans an apology for the soft prevent defense and poor game plan the first two games. However to his credit he has brought the DB's much much closer the the line of scrimmage and is going after the QB much much more often. His resume tells you he can coach, I just think the SEC caught him a little off guard and it took him time to learn and adjust to a conference loaded with athletes and team speed.

I agree. I think it was well coached all the way around. we are throwing the ball over the middle more, the play calling has definetly improved. Everyone ows the coaching staff apologies for overeacting so much. That team had to deal with things no other team (outside of Tulane) has had to deal with.:geauxtige

We can at least be very happy that he has nade constant adjustments to adappt to the SEC. I am glad we are not hearing him tell us about his four year plan for the team to learn his complicated defense while they fail miserably..... Now THAT would be Tepper-like. :D

Pelini is doing a fantastic job with these kids now!
