According to this morning's Advocate, the Astrodome is at capacity and Texas has agreed to take 50,000 more evacuees. If you want to thank Texas Governor Perry, here is the link: http://www.governor.state.tx.us/contact
There are many instances where our gov. and I are at odds. Now he goes and does something that might get me to vote for him. I heard this morning the Reese Technology Center in Lubbock (the former Reese A.F.B.) has some barracks and an air conditioned hanger being prepped for use. An aside, Thanks for letting Bobby Knight tutor Martin Zeno from Sulphur, and Jarrius Jackson from Monroe. If you have anymore outstanding young men who just happen to be outstanding basketball players, there is a place for them at Texas Tech.
Not only the Astrodome in Houston, Dallas is using the Arena up there, San Anitino is taking people there, Austin too. Up where I live Temple is housing people in the Expo Center and Killeen is taking in people at their civic center. Made a drop of stuff we have been collecting last night. And I let the few families that were already here in Killeen not to worry, They had a Coonazz up here working to help them out. I am trying to setup on Labor Day to cook up a couple of big pots of jambalaya and take it to them. If you are in Texas and would like to help you can do what I did in Killeen. Go to Yahoo Groups and in the search bar type in "your city name_freecycle" Join the group and post that you are collection items for the refugees. Be prepared for an unreal outpouring. Within 3 hours of posting I had 50 people wanting to help. We are all gonna need to pitch in and haul a load this time.
