"The Fam" has kept in touch through high school football games on Friday nights and LSU games on Saturdays.
"What's so big about the game weekends is that the cornerstones of the class can be in town every weekend," said Shea Dixon, managing editor of TigerSportsDigest.com. "They make a point to get to pretty much every game."
The group's bond is also tight away from the football field.
"We go out on the weekends too," Hill said. "We play video games or go to the movies. We're real close, not just because of football."

Dont hear about this going on often and very impressive. According to TSD, Landry, Hilliard, and Ronald Martin all drove from their home towns last night to support La'el Collins and Jeremy Hill while Redemptorist took on Parkview last night. RHS was stopped in the redzone with a minute left in the game and lost to 9-7.

Freak also drove to see Trai Turner and Greg Robinson play last night. Thibodaux was dominated by St. Aug.

They are calling themselves "The Fam" for family. It's the LSU 2011 recruiting class, many of which are in-state standouts, and they are making their presence felt here during the Under Armour All-America Game practices.

Five-star offensive tackle La'El Collins (Baton Rouge, La./Redemptorist) has been slowed down this week with an ankle sprain, but he relishes the opportunity and challenge of Wednesday's battle against the nation's top prospect, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (Rock Hill, S.C./South Pointe), and the rest of the Red Team defense.

"I have lost some reps and that hurts at a place like this," Collins said. "But I got after it today, and I thought I played very well. It's taking some time to get used to the size and speed of some of these guys. I have heard a lot about Clowney, and I can't wait until Wednesday night. I expect him to come out fast and play well. I know I will get his best, and he will get my best. It's all about competing, and I want to compete against the best."

Collins, 6-foot-5 and 281 pounds, took an official visit to USC, but he said he remains very committed to LSU.

"I am real solid with LSU," Collins said. "Sure, I had a great trip to USC. But we are putting something special together at LSU. We are a family."

Upon making that statement, Collins' future teammate in Baton Rouge, defensive tackle Anthony Johnson (New Orleans/O. Perry Walker), had more to say about this class for the Tigers.

"We are 'The Fam,'" Johnson said. "We are all going there together and we are going to win big. You'll see."

So I guess Greg Robinson and Jeremy Hill were not family members but were really from the foster care agency...

.....and were not true heirs to the glorious LSU legacy of "stately oaks and broad magnolias shading inspiring halls" !!

I don't think that Robinson has ever been included in that group and I'm not ready to count Hill out of LSU's class. He's being placed in a bad spot for a kid his age by his blood family.
