What a friggin dreamer!. LSU will be able to substitute all it wants to on defense and we do have depth. Our linemen will be no more winded than yours. I'm still amused that you boast of beating teams like 6-6 Arizona State and 6-7 Tennessee. 11-2 LSU is a team like Auburn, whom you found to be more than a handful.

Oregon fans, do you guys think Lache will play in the opener? It seems risky considering the mess with Lyles. Just wondering what the general feelings around Eugene are about Chip playing a potentially ineligible player. He isn't ineligible I know. But it is a possibility in the future. Opinions?

    ASD,
From what I've heard, Seastrunk is considered to be an innocent party in this mess. So, no matter the outcome, Seastrunk's eligibility should be safe.

    Red,
There are a lot of college football fans who've only seen Oregon in the Rosebowl, and the BCS Champ. Game. Those people would not appreciate the Duck's tempo. After watching several Duck games, the hyper tempo's advantages are quite clear.

“The tempo is unique,” said the former NFL coach Jon Gruden, who nearly took a job at Oregon to learn Kelly’s offense. “They’re not the only no-huddle, but they’re as fast as any team that plays football.”

    After watching an Oregon practice:

“I was dizzy walking off the field,” Gruden said. “It’s a philosophy that is the damndest thing I’ve ever seen. I love it and can’t get enough of it.”

The quotes are from a very fine NY Times article written about Chip Kelly's blur offense. "Oregon turns practice into nonstop sprint with precision as goal"

Oregon Hones Prolific Offense During Frenetic Practices - NYTimes.com

Oregon's tempo is unique and very effective, will it win the day against LSU?

Who knows,... what I do know is, finding out is going to be a lot of fun.

false. we will not be able to substitute like we want and better be prepared when we can't. and that means the fat guys up front need to be in better shape but its still impossible for them to be able to keep up for extended periods.

therefore, we need to get their offense off the field in 3 and outs or you end up on your heels. and then it can get ugly.

so you control the line of scrimmage or you suck wind and likely play from behind.

What's interesting is that this will be the first game. Neither side knows really what their team is capable of. That being said, I think Oregon will have the advantage of being more in shape. It isn't about running a lot after practice. Oregon is in shape for what matters: game situations. Can LSU handle Oregon's high speed offense, and a quick- and repeating-substitution defense that is used to practicing against it? I very much doubt it, but we will see.

Ducks are gonna win the day against LSU!! I'm gonna love all the press coverage after! I wonder if Les will eat the turf after such a big loss?

I expect you guys to be confident in your team but i expect a little more cautious optimism. The tempo will be an issue. Of course it wil. We know that...ummmm...we also have a looooong time to get ready and... 1) we have the best strength and conditioning coach in the country and are in peak shape EVERY year. Not just when we open against the ducks. 2) we have the depth and quality to cover whoever is on the field. 3) none of the advantages ducks fans are laying out really led to a victory against Auburn and Auburn was very balanced against UO. 4) I understand that ur offensive system is unique and can light up the score board but you shouldn't be expecting that. There really is no reason that you should expect to run up and down the field. That is absurd. It won't be easy but I think we make enough stops to keep our D from getting worn. Your D will also have to face the challenge of getting dominated at the line. This is as good a team as you will face all year but the same does not apply to us. Unless you make it to NC game and play another top tier SEC team;) no disrespect intended. There will be great match ups all over the field. Can't wait.

I think LSU is the best team we will face all year.

I would love to see the Duck's change your opinion.

In my mind the Auburn game was an aberration, and it burns me up thinking about it. If the Ducks can win in Arlington, all my pain goes away.

Beating your Tigers, legitimizes Oregon like no other victory could.

The only thing sweeter, would be beating you again in New Orleans.

Sorry Giant, I don't think Oregon is a Superteam with light speed and faultless precision. There are exploitable tradeoffs for every scheme in football.

It's not false. Chavis plays a lot of men and he rotates them in regularly and quickly. He doesn't wait to see who is in the game on offense and try to create mismatches. He keeps fresh legs in the game.

This is always true regardless of how quick oregon gets off plays. This game will be won on the line.
