1. LSU averaged 30 points a game last season against far better defenses than Oregon and with a QB who threw only 4 TD passes. I wouldn't bet the farm on LSU not scoring.
  2. there was no defense that was "far better" than the Oregon defense last year. Oregon had the #12 scoring D last year with 18.7 ppg -- LSU was #11 with 18.2 ppg. the only defenses LSU faced that did better were W. Virginia and Bama, who were both tied for #3 scoring D

Oregon was also #34 in total defense (giving up 346.0 ypg). at first glance, that doesn't sound as great as how LSU was #12 in total defense (307.2 ypg), but you have to consider that LSU's defense was only on the field for 822 plays, while Oregon's D was on the field for 963 plays because of their fast-paced, quick-score offense (as opposed to LSU's running-based, time-possession offense)

so, to get a more accurate #, you look at yards/play, and you'll see that Oregon's D was #11 last year, while LSU was #22. the only D's LSU faced that did better than Oregon in yards/play were Florida, Bama, and W. Virginia

being that Florida's scoring D wasn't as good as Oregon, the only two defenses LSU faced last year that were better (and only slightly better) than the Oregon D were Alabama and West Virginia. LSU scored 20 and 24 on them, for an average of 22
  3. WTF>>>>:confused::confused: This is an LSU Tiger sports forum. Where is the LSU info here?
  4. spammer.

    what a shock.
  5. This has turned ugly,

Fellow Ducks, we are visitors! It's OK to argue and be sarcastic in our own home. But we are visiting in the home of LSU, extra courtesy is appropriate.

When camps open, this is going to a very interesting place to hang out, I'd like to be part of it. Let's not wear out our welcome.

Lastly, about comparing conferences, this is a flammable issue, too sensitive to discuss really. Personally, I consider this topic out of bounds.

Play nice, put an emphasis on having fun.

    Go Ducks!
    Beat Tigers!
  6. Finally!

I posted these stats a while back, and got roasted for it. There ARE defenses outside of the SEC that are just as good, if not better than teams in the SEC. Not many, but they exist... and Oregon is one of them.
  7. Agreed.:thumb:
  8. Not trying to. We just have to agree to disagree I guess.
