As an aside, a lot of protections for free speech, between private individuals, are protected outside the First Amendment. I understand the point you are making and at this point I don’t disagree on the unpatriotic bit. I would say, as an ex-navy guy, a lot of this should be to/for the office of President and not the person in the office.
