There is a difference between a "bad boy" and someone who wants to beat you, rape you, and kill you. He did beat her almost to death, he tried to rape her but couldn't get it up, and she escaped after he went to the kitchen to get a bigger knife.

Sometimes a Bad Boy can be a psychopath too. Bad boy conduct probably masks psychosis well.
