I may have misunderstood this comment but it sounds like you're saying that since these "foundations" have been built and "playing fields leveled" that teams and their future success and failures have been set and are guaranteed. I hope that's not what you're meaning. Because the scholly limit was college football's "salary cap". The formula for success or lack there in football doesn't change. Good recruiting, hard work, gelling as a team, and hustle for 60 minutes usually gives you just as much of a chance to win as the other guy. I will in no way guarantee Bama (under Saban) to rise to the top of the SEC. But I do know the things it takes to be a winning program is now being done at the Capstone. Compared to the last four years where it was come and go as you please and if you break a sweat while you're here then that's a plus. That I know for a fact has changed. But to think that teams and their future success or lack there of are "set" and predetermined before they even take a snap for the 2007 year is quite a proclamation.
Nothing about Saban's history suggests that. He had one great year. In fact, I don't even think LSU's record would be as good as it is now had Saban stayed. In 03 with Nick's best team ever - we got outcoached by Ron Zook with a freshman QB... Funny, before half way through this season you would swear that JaMarcus was an idiot who couldn't read a defense based on most of our fans' feelings. You do know his history, right? He was the WR coach for a year maybe 2 at Rice. He was only offered the OC job when he became a coach of interest for bigger programs. I do not see how you feel he is going to be the head power of the Bama offense.
Much is made of $atan's ability to mystically draw in talent. The failing that has already begun to manifest itself is his inability to assemble and maintain a staff. Recapture his standing at LSU? $atan was unable to attract any pertinent part of the staff that gave him his greatest success. Deceks, I would put more stock in what you said if not for the childish alteration of Coach Saban's name. It makes it pretty difficult to take your comments beyond that of a rival fan seeking anything negative about another team's coach.
Well, I didn't think he was an Air Force fan. As far as knowing what he speaks of, I'm not implying that he's uninformed or stupid. I'm simply stating that words carry little weight when intermixed with simplistic insults targetting a person's name. The "$" at least would be somewhat understandable. Equating the man with the embodiment of evil is, well, you get the point.
