1. I'm liking what I'm reading about JaMarcus. We need him to take that next step as a QB in this system, no doubt.

If what is being said here is true, we'll start hearing less "Russell v Flynn" talk and more "Flynn v Perrilloux for #2" talk.

Which is fine by me b/c it's *always* a good thing to go into the season with a rock-solid, ready to go, unquestioned #1 QB, IMO. :thumb:
  2. Of course Miles is going to say it's "too close to call". It's too early to say officially one guy's got the job for a whole host of reasons, one being you have to give the guys competing for the job an ample number of practices, else you give off the perception of having had one guy picked from the start (i.e., the "fix" was in).

If you let that perception take hold about one position battle, the rest of the team wonder about all of your other decisions at other positions as well.
  3. Here's my take on the spring scrimmage:

QB - The numbers confirmed what I thought, that MF and JR were neck and neck. However, MF is a better pass reader, looking receivers off, while JR has a tendency to "padlock" his receivers. JR has more athletic ability, especially with that cannon of his.

RB - I was impressed with Addai and Shy. I think Shy may end up being one of those RB's that gets as many passes as carries.

The OL looked real good, but who's to say what the DL's part in that is?

Field Goal unit looked real nice, especially that one guy who was putting away 50 yarders during warm-ups. We need work on kick-offs, cuz we weren't getting distance on kicks. (BTW, do we now have a DEDICATED special teams coach?).

The spring game was essentially an open practice. I like the points system they had at Notre Dame, O vs D, where the D gets points for sacks, interceptions, forcing a punt, etc.

    Peace,

  4. Sunday--Baton Rouge Advocate----RP will first have to graduate from East St. John before he can compete for qb at LSU. For some reason, I thought that was no problem. I thought there was every expectation of playing time his first year no matter where he went. I hope the play book is not the only book he can read. It would be a shame to be that talented and not be able to compete.
  5. I think he meant, did anyone see him there as a spectator...

    I could be wrong though.
  6. I've read about 5 posts on boards that said that about JR and about 5 that have said that about Matt Flynn. Shows how people percieve things differently or either make stuff up. Fact is, I would be that 99.5% of all college QB's tend to lock on to the primary receiver as soon as the ball is snapped and tend to stay on him unless he is covered.
  7. The scrimamge was my first time back in Tiger Stadium in about 10 years. It felt so good to walk in through the gate and up the ramps. I had my son and my fiancee with me - both experiencing Tiger Stadium for the first time (actually, I took son's picture in Tiger Stadium when he was seven days old, but that was 19 years ago). It was meaningful and moving.

The post-game visit to the Pastime was pretty good too!
  8. youre making me ancy in the pantsy!
