1. Correct.

The pass into the endzone would have bounced off a defender into an LSU players' waiting arms.
  2. and we would have bitched again for winning :)
  3. Can you tell us what he said about Les? I didn't hear the quote.

It is quite ironic, because the next day on ESPN one analyst said that Spurrier was "channelling his inner Les Miles" with that call. :D

Garcia never should have thrown the ball, though. I blame him more than Spurrier, because a veteran QB should know better. With that coverage, it was no better than a Hail Mary.
  4. did it look like this?

  6. If I've gotta be a dummy, I'd rather at least win. Maybe Spurrier could learn something from Miles after all.

Come to think of it, Spurrier hasn't looked nearly as smart since he left Gainesville many years ago.
  7. Everybody, especially in the media, try to read more into it than they should.

The bottom line is: if it works, he's a genius. It didn't work, so he is a bum.

The throw into the endzone is the right call in that situation, just as it was in the 07 AU-LSU game. (The AU thing was weird because the play started so late that the clock could have run out with only a slight miscue.)

If you have a chance to end the game with a TD for the win, you do it. Just like LSU did at Florida.

  8. Yeah but you drill it into your qb's head that he throws the ball where his receiver can catch it only, to the back pylon.
